@nayr Getting my install plans together for the new Starlight PTZ. Are you still happy with this microphone? Thanks.

Can you take a pic of the wiring for the mic. I have one mic and going to hook it up to my fixed camera but wonder if I needed to hook one up to all of my PTZ's as well. I have the same PTZ as you just the 30x

How many PTZ's do you have?

Anyone know where I can find the legality of recording audio with my cams in florida? all I can find is wiretapping.

I have 2 of the 30x and 2 IPC- HFW5220E-Z. They will be pole mounted

Wonder if there is a way to make the one mic work for all the cameras with the NVR?

Sic, i may get a 30x later or see if another one comes out lol, work how? Have the mic trigger all of the camera? Or have all of the cameras record the one mics feed?

I do understand how to use the 12V Splitter but that wouldn't work on a POE+ for the PTZ. Just curious to see how this one was hooked up, and might make me buy more Mics or just stay with the one. Was hoping to get at least one camera to record sound, but would be awesome if I could take that sound and make it universal for all the cameras by a setting in the NVR ?

I see @nayr fixed you up for the most part.
My mic and camera is still on my test mount. But when it's installed, I will pull wire to power the mic from a wallwart in my garage. Not powered from POE+.

Just a word of caution, when you power a mic with a power adapter that's farther away / farther from the camera's power source you increase your odds of picking up interference. If you experience significant interference the key is to minimize the area of the ground loop. It may work just fine, it's just something to be aware of.

Thanks @tangent I was not aware of that. When you say "to minimize the area of the ground loop", can you explain that please?

I will be powering the camera from it's 24v ac transformer, not poe+. I see that an injector at the camera won't work, and I've not be able to find an 24v AC to 12vDC converter to put at the camera. Any other tips appreciated. Thanks.

Ultimately for something like this it comes down to experimentation it may or may not be an issue with the devices and distances in play. In situations like this there's a ground loop between the 2 power supplies and devices. If you had 2 wires that created a loop and spread them far apart like a hula hoop the area of this loop would be relatively large. If the wires are close together as in a jacketed cable the area is much smaller but depends on the length of the cable (shielded cable helps). The twists in UTP cable also reduce loop area / parasitic inductance by introducing parasitic capacitance. The portion of the loop between the power supplies is probably the hardest to control.

This mic has some internal filtering that may filter out a lot of the interference.

Here are a couple links on the subject of ground loops:

Here's a 24vac to 12vdc adapter I found:
