I dont know of anything locally that could do this, I have a bunch of automation hooked up to my cameras but its all external..

you dont have any IVS/Audio detection rules enabled do you?

No, I didn't make any rules for anything. I tried doing a reboot and a PTZ restart and the action still continues every 3.5 minutes.

I think to determine if it is the camera itself, you don't have a choice but to get someone to take one down, place it in a completely different environment and see if it does the same thing.

How precise is that time interval?
Very precise. I have watch two different cameras that I know have the problem, both the camera in the video and the one in the photo, for about 20 minutes and every 3 minutes and 30 seconds they do that action. They are not linked of course they happen at different times, but both cams trigger that action every 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

try setting focus to manual entirely and see if that even helps, might help take some of the 'focus' off the ermm. focus?

might disable auto-iris while your at it

I have not found a solution yet. This is a message I got back from the seller. Any idea what this means / how to fix it?

Hi Jade Royston,
For the cameras, we have checked from our technicians, they say, for example, there are A and B, if cameras face to A, well, B is moving or so, and beside A, cameras will turn into B, auto-focus, it is called marginalization.

I have found the difference in the good cameras vs the bad cameras. They have a different software version. I have attached photos of each. I am thinking if I am able to upload the correct software version to all the cameras it will solve the problem.

The good version is the 2.400.0000.18.R etc......

The bad version (zooms) is the 2.400.0001.0.R etc.........

Any help on stealing / transfering the good software version to all the bad cameras is appreciated! Thanks

contact your vendor and they should be able to provide it too you.. but with everyone on Lunar New years you'll be lucky to get a reply soon, dunno how they keep the power on when everyone in the country is getting drunk.

if your vendor is unresponsive, contact @EMPIRETECANDY and he might help yeh out.

Thanks, yes I have been able to get replies from the sales people but not the technicians. They must be getting drunk until Feb 4th.

Hi nayr so I ordered this camera. Unfortunately it seems the stepper motor for the tilt mechanism isn't working correctly. It only wants to move in one direction (up). I wanted to rule out the pcb so I tested the panning motor by plugging it into the slot for the tilt motor and that works fine. The supplier is working with me on it, but I'm wondering if you (or anyone else) had any ideas on where I could get a quality replacement stepper motor? I'd rather avoid the headache and expense of sending it back.

China isn't going to be able to get me the version of the firmware until like feb8th. Not good for me as we have over 200 events from now until then.

Anyone out there now how to reverse engineer the camera from the command line to pull down the firmware file from a good camera?

Do you have experience doing it with this model? Any idea how long it would take you? I have a good camera I would be willing to spare if you are able to get me the .bin file that would fix all the bad cameras?

this model? nope, I dont even have the model you have as mine is the S and I think you have the T.. I'd need access to a writable nfs server on the same network to dump out the existing firmware.. and I cant promise you that it wont brick something :-\

I'm not sure if this was to me or jader lol.

Anyways, I've ripped the whole thing apart and put it back together already. I needed to measure the stepper motor. It's well engineered so it was surprisingly simple to get to. I can tell you this thing isn't made to just throw away if it fails.

i was talking to @jaderoyston regarding ripping the good firmware off one camera and then making a firmware package he can apply to his other cameras.

this might work: ftp://ftp.asm.cz/Dahua/kamerove_systemy/_Firmware/05SD/PTZ_Firmware/SD29XXXT-GN/General_SD29XXXT-GN_MainAPP_Sony_PTZ_V2.06.29.R.160719.bin
