Dahua Mini Black Face PTZ (SD29204S-GN & SD29204T-GN)

@jaderoyston

this might work: ftp://ftp.asm.cz/Dahua/kamerove_systemy/_Firmware/05SD/PTZ_Firmware/SD29XXXT-GN/General_SD29XXXT-GN_MainAPP_Sony_PTZ_V2.06.29.R.160719.bin
That .bin doesn't look like I can download it anywhere? Or is that a line on how to get it?

No. All the cameras I receive I take straight out of the box, upload a config file so that all cameras have the same video and audio settings, and only other thing I need to change is IP addresses. All the cameras that this is happening to are on totally separate networks with totally separate IP's.

All we do is receive the video stream. There are no scripts/controls/softwares hooked up to the actual camera. The only thing we receive and forward is the video stream.

We have about 45 camera out there and this is only happening to about 4 of them. All settings are the same as the other 41 that are not doing this. Could it just be a hardware issue with a select number of cameras?

tangent - I also have other cameras that do not have anything in the closer foreground and it is still zooming in/out like the video.

what do you do with all of these cameras?

@nayr just curious if you know what the difference between the files in the DH and General folders on the ftp is other than a few hundred kb?

DH has Dahua Branding, General is unbranded..

same thing w/model numbers.. if you get a DH-IPC or DH-SD it'll have a Dahua logo on it.. if you get just an IPC/SD model it'll be a whitebox model w/no branding.

reset it to defaults, looks like its running a higher shutter speed or really low gain.. you might need to tweak em after updating em to get em back to where you had em.

Getting closer, thanks. Still needs a little work on the definition. Good camera is much clearer. We have someone trying to pull a firmware from a good camera later tonight. That way we can have the exact firmware and just upload the same config file to all of them. The different firmware won't accept the config file from other cameras of course.

Thanks for all your help nayr.

check the bitrate; looks like its very low bitrate right now..

yeah this firmware has alot of new shit in it, you may consider updating all of them to this and making a new configuration file.. here's the release notes: ftp://ftp.asm.cz/Dahua/kamerove_systemy/_Firmware/05SD/Main_Firmware/02-the%20latest%20firmware_2016.11.11/Introduction%20to%20V2.422%20Firmware.pdf

It has some new overlay options you might find attractive for your broadcasts perhaps.. the interface was not downgraded, it was upgraded.. might look a bit different but all the old features are still there but new configurations are now available.

I was unable to locate the firmware you were running before

Thanks for checking on the firmware. The bitrates are the same in all photos. I have all cameras changed down to 25 fps and 1024 kbps for bitrate. This allows a smoother stream back to our server and we can usually keep a smooth stream to our viewers with these settings.

Soooo,
I KNOW this is not an outdoor \ waterproof camera. Yet the idiot in me really wants to use it in a spot, 2nd floor under the eve of my house where it would be very handy.
It would be North-ish facing which where I'm situated blowing winds\rain usually comes in from the Southwest so it should not get straight on rain running down it and typically would be protected from the wind blowing anything into it.

That said, nature does blow stuff any which way sometimes so no guarantees.
I mean would something like high humidity or temp changes cause condensation that could fry it?

Are there any suggested waterproofing steps I could take to help ensure it would work properly outside?
Foam baffle trim mounting ring, silicone etc.?
...Or am I just asking for trouble having this outside at all?

at least one person has pole mounted this fully exposed and as far as I know it still survives.. I dont think anyoe's killed one of these yet outdoors, other than potentially toasting the microphone.. YMMV and your rolling the dice since you know that this is not an outdoor camera

Thanks.
I'll take a chance then and follow up after spring rains hit and hope I still have a cam.
If anyone else...or that one guy is out there reading this...Please let me know your experience with this indoor cam used outdoors exposed.

That new <$400 PTZ is sounding interesting though too (SD49225T-HN thread).
I'm waiting to see more discussion \ samples \ reviews on that.
