Getting comfortable
Learn the BI process and be set for the figure. I'd be happy to help you out and set it up remotely and tweak your settings to optimize CPU. @bp2008 taught me a lot about that and happy to return the favor to someone.Hello @happf yes, I'm planning on using Dahua cameras exclusively after my research I've done so far. I'm wanting to get 8 bullets and 2-3 turrets just for starters. Might add 1 or 2 PLZ later?
Do you think the money used for Dahua NVR might be wiser to use those funds for a skylark i7-7700 / i7-6700 to learn the process once and be set for the future ???
I've gone both routes. I highly suggest you go the Blue Iris route and skip the Dahua NVR. The Dahua NVR did not work well for me. Their cameras are great. But their NVR has so many bugs, you would literally click save to a feature and it would revert back to the old setting. There are features in their menus that they do not support yet do not remove. The Smart PSS app was also super buggy for me. Half of the features you want to adjust you try but they never take on the app. The Apple iOS app crashed consistently for me. I tired everything, even worked with the company and no resolution. That was the biggest reason to leave the Dahua NVR. Now I was using this remotely 99% of the time so that is different then if you are right there operating the NVR on a TV screen and have full access to it. But to me it is all about being on vacation and being able to pull up the cams and check on things when there is an alert.
I got a Dell i7 for $569 that is pretty much silent, with 4 TB purple HD added $120, BI Software $60, Dahua POE switch that is silent $80, lots of room for expansion, still have Dahua IVS on cameras working plus BI motion alerts and I am over the moon happy with the BI features and iOS remote app. I actively cool the entire setup with a near silent fan: Amazon.com: AC Infinity MULTIFAN S3, Quiet 120mm USB Fan for Receiver DVR Playstation Xbox Computer Cabinet Cooling: Computers & Accessories
