jenkins, I believe this is the one you requested. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37759044/General_HZXM_IPC_HI3518E_50H10L_S38_RT3070_V4.02.R12.20150317_ALL.zip
Replace the xx in link. I also have an older firmware for wifi with the 6510 board if this doesn't work.
Here is older wifi one for 6510 board camera. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37759044/General_HZXM_IPC_HI3518E_53H13_S38_V4.02.R12.20150117_ALL.bin

Links updated
Hi thank you very much, ill try it next time I have access to the camera. Not sure if your second link is for the same camera or not, it says 53H13 instead of 53H10L.

Really pulling my hair out here.

I have the camera up and running in Blue Iris.

I changed the ports, and admin passwords.

I now can't for the life of me get the device to come up for configuration in either Device Config or CMS.

Always get "Logon timeout".

Advice, or a way to factory reset?

Look for onvif device manager v2.2.250 and see if that lets you log in. Or go to post 722 and try the reset tool.

The reset tool did it. As it turns out, my email to their customer service last night was answered by this morning, including an attachment of the (same?) Reset Tool.

Dumb question, for which apologies - is it possible your SSID is set up as 'hidden'?
Or if you know what it is - to enter it manually?

No not al all a dumb question, and no my SSID is not hidden.
I know my SSID but can not find any possibility to enter it manually on the setting manually.
The SSID on the images is it this moment AP350 and that can not be changed.
Even not when a enable "Enable" or "DHCP"
To change the SSID in de setting i must choose one from above.
And there i don't find my SSID.

Not sure if this was already discussed or covered in this very long thread, but just wanted to drop a warning to you guys, I have 4 of these cameras, brought from different vendors/company etc. They all have a bug in them. Doesn't matter which firmware you're using the latest or whichever.
If you try to view the camera through Tinycam Monitor or Onvifer (android app) you will see what I mean, you don't need any password to access the RTSP stream over ONVIF, so don't port forward those ports over the internet as someone who happens to connect to your IP/port will be able to see your camera stream. Don't believe try for yourself. Easiest way while on your home wifi and cameras up and running on same network, run Onvifer for android and scan your network the app will find your cameras and you will be able to view the stream without any password/username. Not that it matters but the default ONVIF port should be 8899. The media port is ok, that port requires password and the mobile port as well, if you're still on the older firmware that supports the mobile port, not sure why they decided to get rid of it. Anyway be safe. Thanks for all the hard work and knowledge to everyone in this forum/thread.

Few months ago I saw a very deep post about these cameras including, among many other things, links to download software directly form the Chinese manufacturer, it was from TheUberOverLord, if I am not mistaken, but I can't find it anymore...Anyway, I've downloaded the CMS form the mentioned link (my cameras came without CD) and it worked well for a while, but now I get "Fatal Error" too often. Could someone please:

1) Indicate where that post is or tell me the CMS download link again? May be there is a new version...
2) Recommend a different software that would record these cameras based on motion detection (preferably free)?

Thanks a lot
I believe you can reference page 46, post #689 for a quoted version of that post...

Hi IP CAM crowd!
In the past weeks I have learned a lot by reading all the posts, linked pages and of course by playing a lot with the IP CAM and all the tools, telnet, port scanners, routers, IP address management, port forwarding, etc., editors,,,,
My hardware: H264-HI3518E_50H10L_S39
Thanks a lot for all of your valuable contributions, efforts and posting of your wisdom! Solved the IP address issues, explored some depths of the TELNET and sofia, explored the config files, learned how to generate SSL certificates. Learned that I don’t need IE with active X. Really getting to like the Android app : tinyCam Pro.
As most of you concluded: the picture is great for the money spent. So what the issue?
My remaining open issues circle around safety and not the basic function:

  • Email setup: SMPT with SSL does not work
  • Can’t enable HTTPS
  • Unsure if the Chinese cloud services are active / listening / get reported to - even when not opted in? (Probably a good Idea to block the IPs of XMEYE ;) ? )
  • Are all the CMS tools safe? Do they have backdoors?
  • As I understand when using the media port rtsp streaming the user name and the password are transmitted in clear text over the network / internet. As a Post stated that on the ONVIF port nothing is or can be encrypted or even password protected. Even in your own private net it might be good idea to run the IP cam on a separate sub-net.
My workaround: for connecting the RTSP stream of an operator-with-password-protected-media-port forwarded from LAN to WAN I am using a VPN tunnel. However in case the VPN is not on and the Viewer software is trying to connect to the forwarded ports the log-in user name + PWD will be leaked into the infinite depth of the internet. What good is a clear text URL line User+PWD transmission if anyone or organization can catch and parse this?
Since when do spies like to get spied on

So my questions:

  1. Did anyone find a way to “hack” into the cam by
    1. TELNET and or
    2. SOFIA and or
    3. Conifg file (these mysterious JSON config files: after DL I unzipped it and can see all the nice files but can’t do anything with them: who can and how?) and or
    4. by some URL line commands and or
    5. ONVIF command? And or
    6. Home cooked / modded firmware
__To upload a valid SSL certificate (I managed to create my own but it looked like the upload ended in null device ;), or to somehow enable the HTTPS and SSL SMPT email account access and to resolve the complete safety / privacy / eavesdropping issues?__

What is exactly the purpose of these open ports: ??SOFIA?: 9527, ??: 8899, ??: 34567.So far I use mainly HTTP 80, RTSP 554, TELNET 23
May the 4th be with you.

Hi. I have one of these cameras that is hidden in a complicated housing and was difficult to setup and install. I have been using the app xmeye. I noticed that the app said that there was a firmware update available so I downloaded it. It went through the full download and install to 100% and then said update failed. I can no longer access the camera on the network. Because it is so difficult to disassemble (I know I will have to do it) I just wondered is there any hardware reset on this camera? Also I wondered if the problem might be that my network settings have been removed and it may just need a network cable connection to set it up again. Any ideas please.

Thanks for the reply. I was worried I could have bricked the camera. As I said I have some work to do to get at it as it is built into an housing. I will strip it down later. Maybe (and I hope) then that is the problem and it has just screwed the wifi setting. I wondered if there was any hard reset. Do you know where I can get the special firmware please?
