Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Hi,
After reading all 48 pages of this thread I didn't found answer to my problem so here it is :)

I just got another iteration of this product and i looks I found bug that currently make my camera bricked :/.
Camera worked fine until I switched IP config to use DHCP.
Now camera is sending DHCPDISCOVER, my Mikrotik Router responds, but few second later camera sends another dhcp discover and so on..It doesn't accept dhcp offer which is correct.
I made DHCP config so all required Parameter-List send by camera are in response, but this doesn't help.
Anyone know how to reset camera to static IP ?
It looks like my PCB is different from all others I saw here.
Does anyone have similar issue ??

Hello everyone , sorry for my English . I bought a camera " HI3518E_50H10L_S39 ". I wanted to ask the meaning of the profile " 002 " appeared after upload firmware " V4.02.R12.00006510.10010.140300.ONVIF 2.4 " . This profile appears to be with encoding jpeg (discovered by ONVIF device manager) , THEN BE POSSIBLE TO HAVE ONE SNAPSHOT FROM SPECIFIC URL?

I've just been poking around this evening in the firmware on an outdoor IP camera I received a few days ago that seems to be based on the same board.

Once I figured out the reason I couldn't log in to the "Sofia" interface on port 9527 was that the password on this thing is limited to the first 16 characters of what I'd set it to, I noticed there was a snap command.

snap -g 000 /tmp/snap.jpg saves a file, so I was toying with trying various ideas, such as to remount "web" on the tmp directory, so that I could download it, until it occurred to me the ONVIF protocol would presumably support stills anyway.

Anyway, on my camera at least, the URL is

http://192.168.1.10/webcapture.jpg?command=snap&channel=1

It appears that you need to be streaming from the camera to get a live picture, else you'll get the last captured still.

channel 0 and 1 work, but both appear to produce identical snapshots, resolution is 704px × 576px

Thanks. It just saves 120bytes jpg file. Obviously it contains some text error message.

So the question is open, how do I get a jpg stream from this webcam?

Ah, sorry I misunderstood, and thought you were after a jpeg still url, which was easy to find on mine using wireshark and odm.

According to the onvif data, profile2 on my camera uses jpeg encoding.

However, the stream url for profile2 on it turns out to be:-

rtsp://192.168.1.10:554/user=admin&password=******&channel=1&stream=1.sdp

which is actually:- h264 MPEG-4

Resolution: 704 x 578

So ONVIF on mine is reporting the wrong type of encoding for the url it provides, or providing the wrong url for the type of encoding.

Few months ago I saw a very deep post about these cameras including, among many other things, links to download software directly form the Chinese manufacturer, it was from TheUberOverLord, if I am not mistaken, but I can't find it anymore...Anyway, I've downloaded the CMS form the mentioned link (my cameras came without CD) and it worked well for a while, but now I get "Fatal Error" too often. Could someone please:

1) Indicate where that post is or tell me the CMS download link again? May be there is a new version...
2) Recommend a different software that would record these cameras based on motion detection (preferably free)?

Thanks a lot

OK i've been having fun with one of these little guys i've purchased but now am having a bit of a problem. here is a link to the one i purchased on amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00KA4M4WS/ref=nosim/ipctk-20 what is happening is that internally I can connect to the camera just fine with either a PC or my android device using IPcampro, I port forwarded the ports in the networking for both the media port, HTTP IP and onviport but when I try and connect externally it fails on anything I try. My ISP is not blocking the ports as I was able to setup a foscam on those ports and it worked fine. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? attatched is my config in case that helps.

edit: OK no idea what was going on but what was not working yesterday now is. So i guess I'm just curious on the wireless portion of this little baby

also on a bit of a different subject is there a version of this camera with a wireless card already attached to it instead of the usb i've seen in this thread? I'm curious what the power consumption of that one might be and if it would be a good candidate for a battery powered/solar charged wireless webcam in a duck house i have that I am working on.

thanks

you are my hero!!! I spent weeks in this quest! Thank you so much!

Could you explain a bit more - how did you find out how that url have to look like?
Thanks beforehand

I used Wireshark and Onvif Device Manager.

I had to manually enter the camera onvif url in ODM as it didn't discover the camera itself (http://192.168.1.10:8899)

ODM shows a little snapshot when you select a camera and updates it if you click on it. Or if it doesn't, the camera presumably doesn't support the "GetSnapshotURI" command. So I used wireshark to capture the packets and searched for "GetSnapshotURI" then used follow the tcp stream to display the response. It would have actually been easier to search for "jpg" (control-F, select string then packet bytes) which would have directly given me the packet with the url in it.

Another way is to telnet into the camera and search the Sofia binary for printable groups of characters using "grep".

eg something like this should display any text containing jpg:-

grep -iorE "[ -~]*jpg[ -~]*" /usr/bin/Sofia

or to display text with http in it:-

grep -iorE "[ -~]*http[ -~]{1,}" /usr/bin/Sofia

Hi does anyone have a link to the latest firmware with WiFi support? It seems the post that everyone links to has been removed (below).

I think the file name should be General_HZXM_IPC_HI3518E_50H10L_S38_RT3070_V4.02.R12.20150317_ALL.bin

jenkins, I believe this is the one you requested. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u..._50H10L_S38_RT3070_V4.02.R12.20150317_ALL.zip
Replace the xx in link. I also have an older firmware for wifi with the 6510 board if this doesn't work.
Here is older wifi one for 6510 board camera. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u..._HI3518E_53H13_S38_V4.02.R12.20150117_ALL.bin

Links updated

The links above seems not active anymore. Does anyone have a working URL?
And how can I update firmware. My IP Cam seems not to allow it. See picture.
