but I do understand. Today I helped akkyyo with resetting his Top 201. Just be sending him a tool I found in this Forum. Don´t ask me exactly where i found it, this would take me too much of time. The Tool needs the correct IP of the camera and will reset the Top 201. I have this tool in a zip form, unfortunately I cannot (?) attach this tool here. If you are interested just send me your mail via PN and you will get it.
Perhaps someone knows the URL where to get this tool, this would be easier.
Anyhow I was wondering why you choosed a complicated way via Eeprom....

I have downloaded a tool from this topic "ResetTop-201.zip" and indeed it restored the default IP to the IPC.
But the admin account continues password protected (I don't remember the password defined long time).
Because of this I think the only way will be updating the firmware manually.

My camera is Model JSK-720 with no Top-308 or Top - 201 mark. I bought it in Banggood. Current consumption is arround 100mA at 12V. Camera works fine with free open-source software iSpy. ISpy and Vlc work only if Win Firewall is turned off. In browsers (windows and Android) I get message, thet I need plugin, without any information which plugin.
With ONVIF Device Manager I can look camera profile, but can't change anything, I mean sharpness, brightness, white balance. They have 3 profile, but only 2 work (720 and 288 lines h264). Look like that firmware is V4.02.R12.00006510.10010.142300.ONVIF 2.4 and coudn't be changed with ONVIF Device Manager.

How can I change settings? On board there is 2 empty connectors. Is there a way to change FW.

I wanted to thank all of you awesome folks here on IPCamTalk.....I bought one of these nifty little cameras and with the wealth of knowledge in the thread I have it working great. It is a decent little camera to play with that would have been a complete migraine without you all here.

Today I noticed that IE offer (after opem 192.168.1.10) download. After pressing "download", NetSurveillance\CMS was installed. After that I can login (inside IE) into camera and do almost all I want.
I can change title and timezone, turn both off, change title ant time position, change video setting also sharpnes. I change second profile to 704 x 576 and decrese sharpnes and all setting was saved and stay permanently.

Hi, I use for my cameras Tinycam monitor pro with a dyndns and port forwarding in the router. Now I want to access from outside the top-201.
Is known whether a comparable Camera is listed in Tiny? Thank you for the effort.

Something that would be helpful to know is specifics on the electrically switchable IR cut filter/lens you're using. I know that you've provided that information here, and I haven't had much luck finding it yet.

Speaking of "lens" the version of this camera that I'm looking for appears to have an M12 lens.

Lots of good information here. I spent a lot of time trying to get this camera to work with Blue Iris and the one setting that made it work was to disable the hardware decoding checkbox.

So has anyones camera been recruited into the XiongMai camera botnet?

I've had all mine on their own vlan since I got them since they seemed excessivly chatty onto the internet even with the cloud tickbox turned off, but wondering if there is any visible signs from the camera that it is taking part in a ddos or similar - web IF stopping working or anything like that as I have a couple of them at another site that is not on an isolated vlan, just have unticked cloud and made sure that the router is not running upnp which would allow incoming ports to be opened by it.

Good news and bad news. Finally got ActiveX installed, so I could log in and configure the camera. Nice image for less than $20! (I did not install Device Manager or CMS.) I reset the fixed IP and assigned a new port number, and was able to get BI to recognize it and stream the video. BUT, now I cannot login to the camera. ?! Everytime I try (with the new password I had assigned) I get a "Login timeout" message. Meanwhile, BI is streaming the image with no problem. Interestingly, the data in the "path" window of BI seems to suggest a new password has been assigned:

/user=admin_password=h3njhZa2_channel=1_stream=0.sdp?real_stream

In other words, my assigned password, which is also entered in the password box is NOT "h3njhZa2". Even if try to login as admin/h3njhZa2 I still get the "Login timeout" message.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Many thanks!

Is your new password longer than 20 characters? I seem to recall not being able to log in after changing mine, until I guessed the camera truncated the password. I don't recall getting a "login timeout" error though.

Thanks for the reply - I've finally sorted it (after hours of effort!). No, it wasn't a problem with the password being too long, rather I had changed the port from the default 554 and for some reason it would'nt let me login afterwards, even after changing it back. I finally managed to log back in after changing the port to 8554(?). Go figure.

I have a camera (6510 device) with v4.02.r12.00006510.10010.1303 firmware. When I upgraded to IPC_HI3518E_50H10L_S38_V4.02.R12.20150116, and
I lost wifi on camera boards (Wifi option not present in Web UI menu).
Please help me, could you give me a "good" firmware or 4.02.r12.00006510.10010.1303 firmware?

So I'm thinking about using one of these, and putting it behind a window I have to the side of my front door.
I would like to use it to identify anybody who walks up the the front door. I'll also have another exterior camera up and off to the side, but this camera will have a better angle for faces.

Is there a night vision version of this camera? One with IR illumination? Otherwise, I will add an illuminator for night time.

Randy, If you put a camera with IR lighting behind a window, the IR light will reflect back and blind the camera.

Or take the one you already have outside and mount it properly for faces that come to the door. Also, making your front door light into an always-on dusk-til-dawn light will help eliminate the dependency on IR.

Thanks for the filter advice, I'll make sure I get that.

These little guys are appealing because I think it will not be very noticeable when I mount it, although a white cam would blend in better.
Now that I think about it, maybe I'll buy the board version of this camera, and stick it in a white case.

My thought is to have one camera to the side of the front door, acting as a area cam, and this one in the window, for facial recognition.
From what I've learned here, it's better to have two cameras than to try to have one do everything. I don't have any cameras installed yet, I only bought one camera so far, and I have been playing with it to figure out where to install.

Since these are cheap and small, I'm thinking about putting one in the garage too, to act as a garage door "sensor", make sure it's closed.
