I didn't read through the entire thread, so I'm not sure if any posters encountered this.

Is there something I'm missing, or do I just need to keep fiddling with it?

I’ve noticed this as well, it’s sometimes a little tricky get it there. Wiggle it back and forth and it’ll click right in.
All you need is patience

I was just in the process of mounting this camera on a PFB203W wall mount. After I attached the pedestal to the wall mount, I found that I couldn't get the camera enclosure to slip back onto the pedestal, even with the set screw completely out. It was on there before - so I'm a bit flummoxed as to why it doesn't just slip back on.

Is there something I'm missing, or do I just need to keep fiddling with it?

Make sure the cable from the cam isn't interfering with the cam not seating all the way down, thus holding the collar up.

So there's more in the new firmware? :D

Hopefully Dahua will fix the constant switching between day and night mode during sunrise and sunset...

it is ridiculous (awesome) how this camera uses light. I looked out my window and its pitch dark outside. My naked eye can't see my car in the parking lot. There is a tiny hint of a shiny object which turns out to be light from a distance reflecting off my headlight. If you didn't know my car was on the lot you couldnt tell what the light was reflecting off. Then I turn the camera on and VOILA!!! I can see the grass, foot path, mailbox, and all cars in the parking lot, the townhouses across from me, the windows, drapes, lights in the residences. I also see tiny creatures (cats) walking in the parking lot every once in a while. When people walk, they leave a shadow. how that happens leaves me gasping for answers. Without looking at the camera i can't tell if a person is walking to or from their vehicle. I tried looking...i can't see anything moving out there. The lighting conditions here are terrible, the light pole goes off around 9pm lately, and stays off. There is some residual light from afar which i guess the camera is using to illuminate the scene, i got no idea.

Im extremely impressed with the low light capabilities. Because its SOOOO dark the stream is grainy, but i couldn't be happier with my purchase. There is also some motion blur (ghost-like) however i can't believe the camera can see in the dark as well as it does. still can't believe it.

im still tweaking the settings during my free time, thanks looney for the recommendation on this camera. as you can tell im still blown away.

I found something interesting today.
I was reviewing the footage from last night (we have problems with stone martens).
Around 01:00 in the night; a recording of a cat; all looks normal.
Next recording is just after 03:00 of a stone marten; however the footage is much darker than usual; I haven't seen that before; the IR is more spot-like in this recording.
Next recording is around 6 when they deliver the newspaper; again dark image.

I wonder what happens tonight; if the image is different/darker again.
I checked the recent logs of the camera and it showed this:

Code:
12-02-2019 02:35:50 System Hot Swap
12-02-2019 02:32:59 System Save Configuration
12-02-2019 02:32:54 System Save Configuration
12-02-2019 02:32:52 System Start up
12-02-2019 02:32:52 System Auto Maintain
12-02-2019 02:32:08 System Reboot
So after that recording of the cat (with normale image) it did a reboot (and whatever that is that the camera did after the reboot) and since then the night footage looks different.

Also; I know we had someone on our driveway (parking car, getting in and out of house and drive way) and it's not recorded. Next recording happened about 30 minutes later so it just completely missed it...

Check to see if camera settings have changed. Any changes in lighting? Bulbs burned out?
If someone was in and out of your house, is it a family member? Do you have an alarm system?

Start with possible lighting changes in the location and, look at camera settings. Possible IR lights/camera failure? Possible but unlikely...

What time is the camera set to auto reboot? I'd turn that off. Is your cam isolated from the internet?

I think WDR was turned off and I believe I had that one (although at the lowest setting).
I turned it on and now the image looks about the same again.

Stupid me, it's scheduled to reboot at that time.

So, the night image is repared, just weird the camera some how changed it during reboot; it never happened before.

Now figure out why the camera didn't film the car/people this morning. I can't think of an occurrence when the camera didn't record before; however there have been cases where the recording starts a bit to late
(for example; the same people/car were already getting out of the care when the recording started, instead of the care just pulling in).

While recording on SD worked fine for me for the last several years; I'm more and more inclined to get the NVR41**-4KS2 with a Purple drive, just so I can record 24/7.

Perhaps a properly tuned setup will record every event but I prefer continuous recording with alerts on top of it. I noticed (using BI), that my car is already in driveway befor alert marker is placed even though the ROI is much larger and includes the road before the driveway. I am still playing with BI settings, and reducing "make" time does help... also there is that pre trigger buffer record... etc. option which I haven't played with.

OTH, it is not so important anyway because after the alert trigger, I can always go back a few minutes since it is a continuous recording!

Like I said, others may differ in opinion on this and I shared mine; but you find what's comfortable for you. :)

Set the pre-trigger buffer to a few seconds and you'll catch everything as it enters your driveway without having to set detection zones in the street.

That's what I was thinking too. Haven't had a break to explore all the options in BI yet - recently bought full version from ipcamtalk store after demo..

I need to play with it and go back to cliff notes etc., to tune it etc..

This occurs if you have very short pretrigger times AND also fail to match the iframe interval to the fps in the camera settings. When using direct to disk, blue iris begins recording only on a new iframe interval
