Hi,

Just an update with regard to my previous problems logging into the camera from a web-browser to get live feed;

I finally solved the problem by installing the Hikvision IVMS-4200 software, then logging into the camera and creating a new user with a new password (and all rights). With the newly created user and password I was able to log into the camera from both web-browsers and from Synology surveillanse station.

I am still not sure what was going on, but I suspect a norwegian letter in the admin-password may have caused the problem.

Under is a screen-capture from a night-shot from the camera, (no IR). It was actually so dark outside I was not able to see much at all with my bare eyes.

Looking forward to see if I can catch some of the deers which are eating the wifes roses at film

The image is much better than 2132F-IS, but then the camera is much more expensive!

I still think for UK 2132F-IS fine around the front of the house and well-lit areas but this looks v impressive.

@Brakar - This is without IR on in the above screen shot? If it was in fact as dark as you are claiming and no IR, WOW!

Thanks for the pic!

It can't be possibly without IR or some other light source. If you look at the sides there are shadows from some light source. Appears too good to be true.

Yes, if that camera's IR isn't on, is there another camera that has IR on then?

nvr is 7608NI-E2/8P on firmware 3.1.0 Build 150511
DS-2CD2542FWD-IS firmware 5.3.3
DS-2CD2342WD-I firmware 5.3.3
updating the nvr firmware helped, i was on 3.0.7 before, now it recognizes the cameras.
Problem is the exposure? keeps jumping around every minute or so. In daytime it'll be fine then go white screen for a couple of seconds. At night, the screen goes black for a few seconds and slowly adjust back. When it jumps to white or black the OSD flashes. Hope it can be fixed.

There are two light sources in the picture. One light is far away from the camera creating a shadow at the upper right corner of the picture just above the couch or sofa and another light source at the camera. The center of the picture is definetely more bright, and there is no self producing light item.
Additionaly there is no digital noise which is the signature of IR vision.

Two captures with IR on and off would prove the truth.

Hi again,

As some did allready spot/point out, my post from yesterday did actually show a screen-capure WITH IR. (I made a mistake).

To make things right, here are a few new screen-captures; one with, and one without IR.

The lighting conditionn is; it is night, no moon, one road-light up to the left, (over the pickture), one light-post to the right (outside of the field of view).

Cheers,

Jorn

From the south, there were no mayor light sources, only a few houses.

Thanks @Brakar for clearing that up for us. Would you be able to take a jpeg shot straight from the stream for us to see what kind of noise you are getting with no IR on? Thanks in advance.

These are the CIMP8242 cameras form LTS, the Hikvision 4mp bullet camera. Literally exactly identical to the Hik 3mp cameras with no changes at all. I have no easy way to get good sample shots right now I'm just pointing it out a window and testing it in the dark server room. So far it is working great, reacting to light well and really good nightvision so far. I've literally only played for 15 minutes or so here but liking it just fine so far!

Here is a Hik 3mp bullet I had sitting around for comparison, no changes at all. I did note that the IR LEDs are very clear on the new LTS where they are lightly cloudy in comparison on the older Hik. Not sure if that was a change or just normal for IRs as they age maybe, I've never looked or noticeed this before and would not have if they'd not been side by side for this photo. I don't use IR so I will not notice if there was any change anyway.

Hi,
I was wondering if you got any of these new 4MP cams installed yet and if so could you please post your final settings?

Thanks....

Hello guys,

I have got my DS-2CD2042WD-I finally delivered today.

It looks like this model is still now available in Synology and got it working as the previous one (DS-2CD2032WD-I) the only problem is the resolution.

Device works fine with 2MP resolution (1920x1080) but as soon as I choose 4MP (2048x1536) it says "Disconnected" next to the camera name.

Is there any way to get this temporarily working somehow with 4MP resolution to test?

Contact Synology support... they are really good at sorting these issues out.

Here's a sample of my DS-2CD2342WD-I firmware 5.3.3 recorded on a 7608NI-E2/8P on firmware US 3.1.0 at 1080p. It does this everytime it does motion detection, in 1080 and in 4mp. The flashing is driving me crazy, I can't figure it out.
