5.3.1 can be downloaded from hikvision usa - http://overseas.hikvision.com/us/download_89_p2.html - however, if yours is a chiense unit, 5.3.1 may cause problems. I cant get 5.3.3 for mine yet since hikvision eu makes you register before downloading and there is an error in the registration website.

The link is for the overseas site, so it might be the china one. The us site doesn't list the 2042 yet for sale. The factory sticker says v5.3.3 on it, so I don't know if i can downgrade to v5.3.1 on it.

I am playing with a couple that were installed today, at first they were perfect and I was very pleased. I then found that when I turned on WDR to the level of 7 the entire image was very dark compared to what it was before, it lost all the brightness and vibrancy of the colors. Very dull image and not good. Then I found that when cars drive past after my adjustments that I get a horrible "trail" behind the car. This did not happen before I changed a few settings, but not many and I was just matching the settings I used on the 3mp version. I disabled WDR but the trails remain, so now I'm trying to figure out which setting caused this.

The only settings changed were gain to 90, FPS to 8 and iframe to 8. Noise reduction to 100 and WDR on and set to 7. Camera label disabled, and IR disabled. That's it.

It appears it was the noise reduction. I disabled WDR that was not enough. Noise reduction back to 50 and rebooted and it is okay again. Need to put noise reduction back and test again to make sure it was not the reboot after disabling WDR that did the trick.

Other than WDR being useless for me right now the images are great and I have no issues with flashing or anything else at all currently. 3.3.1 firmware.

Are you using the 2042's? Do you also have the white flashing issue like the rest of us?

I am using 2042's from @milkisbad yes. I do not have any white flashing at all. I tested this on my system here in the office and never noticed it and I sure see it in the posted videos! I installed the two today and was watching for it but did not have it at all. Not when watching in the live view, or in my recordings.

I am using Exacq software for my NVR so I am an oddball there, but I still do not have it when watching live either. I use a i5 NUC as my work desktop with dual 24" 1080 monitors so no monster computer, and I'm running Windows 10 and using IE if that helps narrow down what's going on.

What FW version are you using and are they the Chinese Hikvision models with the english firmware? I got my straight from Aliexpress, so they sent me v5.3.3 with English on it. I don't know if it's a hacked camera but most likely it is, since from what I've read, it's solely in Chinese when you buy them in China?

Firmware 3.3.1 and mine are from @milkisbad here on the forum, so they are not hacked but native English versions.

Oh ok. Is there any way to tell if mine are hacked without trying to flash the FW on the camera and find out the hard way?

Looks like Hikvision has released it's new 4MP camera's, and looking at the specs they are amazing! 0.01lux at 4MP (down from 0.07lux at 3MP) and 2688×1520 resolution (up from 2048×1536).

I've already sent Julia Li a message, I'd love to get my hands on a few of these new 4MP camera's. The 0.01lux is what make these great, 0.07lux in low light scenarios is really not cutting it, whereas 0.01lux does wonders.

Too bad networkcameracritic isn't among us anymore to review these, I'd love to have read a full review of him of these new camera's.
Hi Mate,
I just done an order from WEB CAMERA ( used to be CCTV CHINA) and one of the cameras i got was this
[h=3]2015 New model DS-2CD3345-I 4MP array 30m IR Network.[/h]Yet to hook it up as only got it yesterday

Razer.. You mean 5.3.1 right? Curious to know how your settings ended up panning out. I am on hikvision 5.3.1. Flashed over milks. Milks had a snapshot issue that limited the output to 640x320

Ha, yes I meant 5.3.1. Sorry about that. My settings went pretty well, for the first night I am pleased but I honestly do not see an improvement over the 3mp cameras. At this location I have a 3mp and 2 4mp within 100 feet of each other all aimed in the same direction with similar lighting, but lighting will be slightly different of course. My 3mp overall had less noise and a better image last night with the exact same settings as the 4mp.

Actually there are two differences, the 3mp camera has WDR on at 7 and noise reduction at 100 and works fine. Both of those settings are not usable on the 4mp, so WDR off there and noise reduction to 50. Overall the image on the 3mp is brighter and clearer. All cameras set to 1/30th on the shutter, 90 on gain. The colors and lighting look more natural on the 3mp where the 4mp is slightly darker and colors are more exaggerated.

Nothing it does not look like more firmware could not fix though. So far biggest disappointment is the WDR, unless the settings are totally different on the 4mp and I should now be using a really high number or something as it looks like butt set to 7 like my others lol. It also like the image stream is huge in comparison to the older camera. 3mp camera in 2mp mode is 19,000 bytes per second, the 4mp camera is 110 to 120,000 per second! Move it to 2mp and it will be at 20,000 for the same scene. That is a massive overhead!

I have now moved the one 4mp camera to 2mp, and left the other at 4mp. Will compare recorded footage later to see if the 4mp is even worth it, so far to my eye the 2mp images look better.

Nice part is with my lighting which is not extreme by any means both 3 and 4mp cameras stay in day mode all night.

Hello,
i got a 2042 english version with firmware 5.3.3 and no problems so far.
Did you get them from milkisbad or from another source? I'm going try to get my supplier to see if there is any fix for it.

The 0.01 LUX sounds encouraging. I'm also intrigued by the "120db WDR". Apparently these have "true" wide dynamic range, instead of the "digital WDR" that the 3mp cams had....In the past, the 120db True WDR was limited to the higher end professional grade models. I've never tried the pro models with true WDR to know how much added benefit this is over the digital WDR, but hopefully this will be a noticeable improvement with shadows.
LUX Specifications are meaningless but the F1.2 specification is much more meaningful.
True WDR can be very useful and much better than eWDR but has no correlation to low light performance as does F numbers.

After reading your description.. I feel the same way.. just couldn't get the words to come out :) Although the multi intrusion zones are a great feature.
