but it shows ONVIF as not supported. Everything still works in the EZVIZ app. What am I doing wrong?

The Hikvision Batch Configuration program will show that ONVIF is not supported and will error out when you try to enable it.

Try the direct ONVIF streaming via VLC.

IE: rtsp:/ipofcamera/onvif

Or utilize the Windows ONVIF application located here ==> hxxps:/sourceforge.net/projects/onvifdm/
I read about the ONVIF Device Manager awhile back and was going to try it out but when Blue iris found my Db via ONVIF, I never did. Downloading it now :)

Yeah I remember most all the YouTube videos I saw pointed to this program in checking ONVIF devices on your network. Here is mine:

So I have not had any luck in my search to confirm that Alexa and/or Google will continue to work if you change firmware to LaView or Nelly's. I personally believe it will continue to work since I had luck with my LaView DB running Nelly's firmware using Alexa. I will continue to search.

phatboyj, I do plan to install my EZVIZ DB1 and do the same (upgrading to LaView or Nelly's), but unfortunately I have a medical procedure this week scheduled and do not want to change anything yet. I hope to install next week.


Can Anyone with an EZVIZ DB1 confirm if your Alexa or Google is still working after upgrading to LaView or Nelly's firmware for ONVIF support?

I updated my EZVIZ to the Nelly firmware. I can link the account, but the video does not work, just shows a black screen with "smart home camera". It didn't work before the firmware change either. Encryption is off.

What are you trying to display it on? Hub/TV? Alexa or Google? Thanks for the info...

After tinkering with batch configuration here my EZVIZ software on Android and Windows shows my camera disconnected these days. It does show my three test cameras but they are all disconnected. If I do a LAN view I can see them all.

For Alexa Show not using the EZViz application due to reported issues on how slow it is. I am using the Monocle IP camera application with Alexa Show except that it doesn't work with my doorbell at this time. It does work with my other two test Hikvision cameras. The Monocle IP camera application does a reverse local proxy and does not use the cloud to access your camera. It is really fast with my Amazon Show.

So sorry digdoug, not sure how I missed it. Great info, Thank You. I will link your message in the 101 and make note of the password change back, we actually had another user change his password and I think he said it reverted back too, but I like to make sure before I remove any warning of Do Not Change your Password. Will still leave the Warning but will word it different.
Been a little off lately, after work the weekend we had our grandson over, he is turning 4 on the day of my heart procedure this week, still healing from him jumping on me all weekend :)

Purely, out of curiosity why buy the RCA, when the EZVIZ is cheaper, "Currently under $100us @ AMZ" and offers wider feature support?
I'm in Canada, and I got the RCA for the same price locally as what I can get the EZVIZ for here on amazon.ca. Just easier to return and the RCA issue wasn't apparent when I bought it. I may return it and order the EZVIZ if the bricking issues doesn't get sorted shortly....I need to connect it to my Lorex NVR via ONVIF.

I appreciate the community here. While trying to upgrade the firmware on my RCA unit, i got this same solid red ring as COtto1984. View attachment 53051

Now the doorbell is unreachable and the reset button doesn't do anything. I tried loading the firmware file on the SD card and rebooting. nothing. held one and both buttons down for awhile. no change. I'm guessing I'm bricked. Tough luck. It was working well too. the upgrade bug finally bit me.

Any ideas? If i need a new one, can the EZViz model be upgraded to ONVIF? or should i get the LaView model for only $20 more and use the official firmware?
I just bought the RCA version and tried to flash Nelly's firmware on it using the batch config. It said it was successful and was rebooting but this actually bricked the camera.

The doorbell button is solid red, reset button does nothing as well as power cycling. I tried loading the digicap.dav file directly onto a reformatted (FAT32) SD and rebooting in hopes that it would load the firmware as some others have suggested and still no change in behavior. Anyone else run into this issue or have some suggestions on what else to try?
I got mine yesterday, installed it today and apparently bricked it two hours later. :( Tried to install the Nelly's FW using Batch Config...said successful, then the DB went offline after reboot (I figured the FW wiped the wifi info since it never came back). Went outside; red ring around the db now. Pulled power for an hour (red ring died). Applied power and red ring instantly comes on. I tried the reset button (figured I had nothing to lose), but it doesn't function. Tomorrow I will try to put the RCA firmware on SD to see if that works...any other suggestions would be appreciated.
ahh I'm bricked! I recently bought a RCA DB2, was on RCA firmware (Jan 30, 2019) Build 190124 and it worked great. Then, using batch config, tried upgrading to Nelly's (Nov. 22, 2019) Build 190625 (ONVIF Support). Batch config showed it 100% completed, only to find that the bell is now at the red ring of death. Tried powering off the circuit for 2+ hours, held reset for over 60s, still solid red ring. I also tried putting the original RCA firmware in the root of the SD card and reboot (breaker off and on), still straight to solid red ring. Unfortunately, I tried the firmware upgrade before the new message of "don't upgrade RCA" was put up, haha. If there is any other info I can provide to help anyone come up with any ideas for me to try to fix it, please let me know!

edit: just realized when I turn off the breaker, the bell is still powered (should have known, seeing as how folks said to power it down for ~1hr due to internal battery), so putting the firmware on the SD card attempt wasn't a real attempt. Currently waiting for it to power off and will try the SD method again (not getting my hopes up though :-\ )

edit 2: sd method didn't work (made sure to rename to digicap.dav). Does the SD card need to be empty other than the firmware file? (I kept all the .bin and recordings on it)

I did this and it worked. Silly to believe the app and not just try it...

Doubt it ever will... the google devices are cloud only and have 0 local capabilities. It defeats the purpose of monocle altogether which is to localize the stream so as not to be cloud dependent on the video. This is why I banned google from my house. You inherently are giving your network away along with all your security and data to them when you use nest/google devices. Not sure how much longer amazon Alexa will continue to allow direct local control of devices but to me it is a huge differentiator at the moment.

Not at all. Alexa devices actually have local capabilities which is what monocle exploits. For example, you can control hue hubs locally without any skills (I use that to control my entire house automation). Monocle forwards the url of the rtsp to the alexa show so that the alexa device goes directly to that local url to get the stream. It does not go through the cloud. Google doesn't allow that. It is fully and completely cloud dependent. See this other post:

Hopefully this explains what I am trying to say. Monocle is about localizing the stream and bypassing the cloud server. I have been testing/using monocle for all my dahua/amcrest cameras successfully but this doorbell at the moment is not working. I have no intention of going through the ezviz cloud because it also defeats the security of the system though it is tempting. Either a firmware removing these special frames for the doorbell or a new firmware on the echo show tolerating these frames will be needed to make it work. Alternatively monocle are testing a local proxy which would process the stream and filter out the special frames which I am also very hesitant to implement because of the lack of return on investment for a single doorbell.
