    New with basic questions

I’m thinking through camera placement and it occurred to me I need to plan exterior 120 volt security lighting junction boxes and wiring as well. Motion activated flood lights and maybe IR illumination. I’ve picked up a couple of junction boxes for mounting dome cameras to get a feel for how...

    Hikvision DS-KD8003 PoE

Sorry to hijack this thread but just preparing the wiring before I buy the intercoms ! Door supplier says strike is 1w/24dc - what does that mean ? Should I run a power supply (I assume will have to set up low voltage power )to the electric strike and a cat cable from the strike to the...

    Strobe Light on and off

I've never had to add an external device like this strobe light to an IP camera before so i need your guidance Based on the IPC-B54IR-Z4E-S3 specs, it has a 1 channel out: wet contact, 300mA 12V DC, which I think means it can control a device like a strobe light, as long as the strobe is 12V DC...

    Turrets Mounted to Soffit

I really like junction boxes .. for Dahua I prefer the pfa 121 and pfa 122 as the base is the same . And lids are for either 4 screw or 3 screw bases For new construction I would do tests once the framing is up to see if I can get the view I would expect. Can I only install cameras on...

    Turrets Mounted to Soffit

The only real issue I see is the much larger hole you need to drill for the wiring. If you use a junction box you just need a hole large enough for the cat6 cable. Then terminate the cable once installed. All wiring will fit in junction box. No junction box and you have to stuff all the wiring...

    Ethernet Burial—Detached Garage Install

You should start by calling into your local utility for call before you dig to identify all electrical & gas. Next get the code book that relates to your specific location. Doing so will inform you as to the type of material, depth, and installation requirements. Running any wire in conduit...

    Ethernet Burial—Detached Garage Install

Ethernet Burial—Detached Garage Install—Please Advise! I have an existing home where there is a detached garage (carport with integrated workroom) that needs to be connected to the main house that will house the: router, POE switch, internet modem, NVR, etc. The purpose for this run is because...

Which Premium Doorbell? Front & Back Door

I wouldn't either, which is why I haven't tried to pull ethernet to the doorbell even though as doorbell's go mine's on the easier end of the spectrum. The built in micro sd card slot is a good backup if the wifi stutters. In a dual doorbell house like this everything is usually fed from the...

Which Premium Doorbell? Front & Back Door

If the installer, that ran the original wiring, did it correctly they would have stapled (secured) the wire which would make it difficult to use it as a pull string. You never know until you check though, plus if they did staple maybe they only did a couple that you can reach from the attic...

Which Premium Doorbell? Front & Back Door

The best reliability is going to come from a wired (POE) doorbell. However those require a network cable to be run to the doorbell position which can be very hard if it wasn't wired that way while under construction. However, if this is possible, then both power and the camera feeds will be...

Which Premium Doorbell? Front & Back Door

I have a new property that's 350 miles away from me that will be getting a new surveillance system (NVR, IP Cams, UPS). Can you suggest a premium doorbell? I would be interested in the following features. -Rock-solid reliability. The home will be 6 hours away... -Front & Rear Door. Currently...

Dahua Camera Times out/goes blank after over 48hours

I'll see to this . Thank you all for these contributions. I was initially thinking that I needed to change the lease time on the router, but then even if I could change the lease time, the camera is not meant to time out.

Dahua Camera Times out/goes blank after over 48hours

^^^^ Cleaning up wiring is a good place to start. The Dauha sheet for NVR4116HS-8P-4KS2/L shows that it is EOL so maybe an upgrade. It appears to be a 16 channel NVR but states "8 × 1080p@30 fps " and POE capability of " Total output power of PoE is 72W, the maximum output power of a single...

    Newbie with questions

Well I'm coming down the home stretch. I pretty much finished up last night and now I have some clean up to do. Getting rid of the trash and making some of the uglier runs look a little nicer. :) Garage runs - who cares anyway lol But you know - happy wife happy life - got to make it look...

waterproof box with receptacle (outlet) for ip camera

Its a small box along with the outlet. since the space is limited and it has small form facor i was thinking it could be an option based on the information provided 15-amp duplex receptacle For use with surface mounted wiring to expand the convenience for wall receptacles Heavy-duty plastic...

waterproof box with receptacle (outlet) for ip camera

I have a waterproof electrical box that will house a 5-port switch to power the PTZ camera, as well as an injector to power the LBE-5AC-Gen2 antenna. Compatible alarms with the Alarm out ports?

Haha yes I ended up learning a lot from this forum and your post, I think my post here was prior to that, so thanks again. Also thanks so much for the different implementation options, super interesting. My end goal is to 'arm' the system either manually or on a schedule to send me alerts...

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

The cams are on a different subnet than the router/gateway, so how can they see the Internet?

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

Each cam is physically connected to the internet. Why bother with two NICs in the PC if they are not on separate wired networks? If you physically cannot change the wiring, then replace the two POE switches with managed POE switches and set up VLANS.

    Funny / Satire

One of my Swann cameras has been acting up until it went off line. I did several things to alleviate the problem. I scanned for a new IP, wiring, blinking lights on the switch and even the I/R lights work. Well, I did the old fashion Solid State Repair procedure #1. I took my walking stick and...

Wiring diagram for water damaged rj 45

I don't have a Hikvision camera and I have not replaced a RJ-45 connector on one. Also, I'm not pointing out the following because I think it will resolve your issue about having to restart the POE switch but the pin numbers of the image you posted are wrong IF that is a female RJ-45 and the...

dahua NVR just stopped displaying cameras?? how to fix?

I don't know if this will help or not. Thought I would show what I am talking about for the RJ45 ends. This is the 4 wires, aka 2 pairs I was talking about. It is a Straight through setup. One pair is send other is receive, I know it don't make much since when we are talking about POE, The thing...

dahua NVR just stopped displaying cameras?? how to fix?

Here is what I would do, I know that it isn't a great thing, However need to work it out. I personally would remove the Down wire, reboot or power down and then power up the POE Switch. Once all the other cameras come online I would then remove one of the working ones that have all come back up...

Wiring POE cameras through the screened porch and crawlspace

Planning out the addition of 2 more POE cameras on the outside of my screened porch, because -- of course -- I didn't ask for enough homeruns when I built the house. On the side of the porch in the picture, I could split the exiting Cat6 and run another cable along the soffit, but since I plan...

That diagram is still valid, no reason not to use it, except that - Note - on the later (G1) cameras, Hikvision have swapped pins 4 and 5 (Grey and Purple).

Wiring diagram for water damaged rj 45

I've cleaned up worse than that with a toothbrush, dental pick, and contact cleaner. But if you're set on replacing it, you can cut it off and make your own wiring diagram with multimeter as stated above. If mine, I'd try like heck to save it first.
