Choosing PC Case for Multiple HDD ?

If it were me, I would consider server chassis along these lines: Rosewill RSV-4310L Server Case or Chassis, 4U Rackmount - 7 x Included Cooling Fans, 10 x Internal Bays - Newegg.com This one happens to have a "fan wall" between the drives and the motherboard, which takes three 120mm fans.

Black Friday 2019 is around the corner!

Andy hooked me up with the 12MP bullet from his list, looks great. Now I have to decide how to break the news to my Blue Iris system... :D mech: hey Surveil-O-Tron! Surveil-O-Tron 9000: mech, what's up *oh no, MORE cameras* :wtf: mech: can u show me what was going on up on 3rd floor...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

As I told Andy, I would expect perfection if I had bought one of these: For a tenth of the price, the Dahua was an experiment on my part, and the auto-tracking turned out to be good enough in its own right. The loss of Pan orientation was the fundamental issue, it resulted in the camera...

Dahua playback question: can the cam play back from NAS?

Bump for this topic. It seems logical that if there is a dropdown box for the playback source, there'd be multiple options to choose from, and these cams can record to SD card, FTP, or NAS, soooo.... ? If it can record to NAS, how is one supposed to play back those recordings? Halp!

REVIEW: Budget 4MP Turret Comparison - IPC-T2431T-AS vs Chinese HDW4433C-A

I can verify it lines up with the PFA130-E. I got some for my landlord for a low-budget setup for one of his apartment properties. Here's a sample view looking down on a relatively dim scene. Light is from cloud cover over an urban area, with light at the right coming from one light bulb...

Powered by DarkFighter 8MP or ColourVu 4MP

I have one ColorVu and several of the 8MP. Question, can you show us your scene and where the camera would be mounted? I'm particularly thinking about its "angle of attack" on the outdoor scene. If the camera has to aim down at the ground, there's a tendency for it to overcompensate for the...

Dahua playback question: can the cam play back from NAS?

I'm experimenting with a setup for someone, and I have this camera set up to record to a Synology NAS, which it's doing fine. But the camera's Playback page has a dropdown box for Data Source, and I'm not seeing a way to get it to play back from the NAS it's recording to. The only entry on...

Suggestions for a video card to offset CPU video processing?

That was part of the attraction of putting in the SSD, it is undoubtedly helping a lot since the files arrive on the mechanical drives in one chunk. Prior to that, most of the cams were being recorded to the 10TB drive, and when called upon to play back 15 hyper-fragmented files at once while...

Suggestions for a video card to offset CPU video processing?

If a drive can't handle 10-15 minutes a day of defragging, then I'd say there's something wrong with it. My 10TB Seagate EXOS just wrapped up a full defrag in under 12 minutes. Its last defrag prior to that was the nightly one that ran around midnight. Maybe it's not the end of the world for...

Suggestions for a video card to offset CPU video processing?

As a fact-finding step, I did kidnap a Quadro P620 for the night, and saddled it with ten cameras, mostly 2MP. I'll attach a screenshot showing the result while displaying all the cameras. The interesting part is that CPU usage is actually not reduced. The workload on the Intel UHD Graphics...

Suggestions for a video card to offset CPU video processing?

If you're upping the memory, that would also be an opportunity to go to dual-channel mode for a bit more CPU performance. Is the system currently using just one module, or a pair of them? Also, if you did want to add a card, one safe candidate would be a Quadro P620. We have some in Dells...

Suggestions for a video card to offset CPU video processing?

They won't offload all of the video processing, but they can help. What's your computer's card size (half-height or full-height), power supply rating, and is it equipped with a power connector for higher-powered PCI-Express cards, or would the video card need to draw all its power through the...

The mystery of the "invisible" license plate on my LPR cameras

In my state, the base layer of the plate is reflective, and the letters are NOT reflective, which is why they have good contrast in reflective situations. I suspect the odd plates are made differently, with a tinted overlay which either is functionally reflective in nature, or which is not...

    Installed a ColorVu turret

I like to do the stop-and-zoom videos to see how much actual ID value I'm getting, so I have my Mage cast Impede. Your party members have to have the Amulet Of The Blue Iris and combine it with something called Windows 10 Game Bar for the screen-capture function. My party was able to purchase...

The mystery of the "invisible" license plate on my LPR cameras

DOT retroreflective tape like Reflexite V82 is very reflective if that suits your purpose. You should be able to get it at auto-parts stores alongside reflectors and taillights intended for trailers. If you want something stealthy, there's also black retroreflective tape (search Ebay for...

    Installed a ColorVu turret

I wonder if the haze around your garden lights is due to the super-wide f1.0 aperture on the lens. I have a 5231 Z12 bullet with an adjustable aperture, and the wider I open it, the worse that "bloom" effect gets around light sources and reflective objects like license plates. My camera also...

    Installed a ColorVu turret

Reserved for more videos :) Also, while I was up there taking down the camera to adjust its focus, a known car thief came up the staircase to see if his pal in the third apartment was there... unfortunately I do have more than just the black cat and the fluffy cream-colored one to worry about...

    Installed a ColorVu turret

I had a old 5MP Bosch 5000 varifocal dome cam up on our third-floor porch. Problems: 1. I can't rely on a couple of the residents to run their porch lights. 2. If they do turn their lights on, then a person facing the camera is backlighted. 3. the old Bosch had inherently poor night...

Looking to upgrade my SFF Dell

Traditional defrag is counterproductive on SSDs, but Windows 8 and Windows 10 know how to do a TRIM on an SSD. The command I listed would defrag regular drives and TRIM an SSD. If you see a cheaper path forward than upgrading the drive, by all means go for it. I suspect if you need X amount...

    Blotchy Night vision

Also, is your camera's lens-shield ring in place: This should be intercepting light from the camera's own infrared LEDs. If that is in place, then as a fact-finding step, turn off the camera's infrared and see if the artifacts vanish. If so, it's the cam's own IR causing it. If not, turn...

    Dahua SD59230HNI Auto track instability

I can help you with the inter-camera triggers in Blue Iris if needed. My own PTZ shipped out for inspection, but the general theme is this: 1. aim the camera at the scenes where you'd expect the action to happen, and create & save a Preset for each scene 2. in the camera's Web interface, go...

    Dahua SD59230HNI Auto track instability

The auto-tracking doesn't require additional cams. It's possible to use extra cams to call the PTZ around to a different Preset, but for the PTZ to auto-track, that Preset will need its own Deep IVS rules so that once the PTZ arrives at the Preset, it can use those rules to auto-track. I...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

I got mine down off the building (no bleeding involved this time) and have been running it through some maneuvers while holding it and listening to it. Interestingly, if I put my ear up to it, there's a constant sound coming from it (a fan perhaps?). I don't hear any abnormal sounds when it...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Mine was OK during initial indoor testing. I installed it on the week that the landlord's work crew were on-site doing some construction on the apartment building, so it got a real workout auto-tracking them all day in the parking lot. Day after day, I would come home to find it aimed in...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

All of the above. I can set off the problem by using BI to manually steer it or send it to its own Presets. I can also set it off by manually steering it or sending it to its own presets in its Web GUI. And it will also do it after ending an auto-track, with no outside steering but just its...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

In my case, the camera will randomize its Pan value in several situations: 1. sometimes after a PTZ Reset, it will try to reach its home Preset and the camera thinks it has turned to that preset, but the actual camera body didn't move there. 2. sometimes after an auto-track, it will try to...
