You have to pop the black plastic cover off the front of the camera then you can unscrew everything and pull out through the front. A little tricky to remove but they do come off and pops right back on.

I to had that same problem when I had a Lorex nvr when I tried to add a Dahua camera before I knew the right way to do it. I clicked the add button and there was a drop down list with some cameras there plus ONIVF and Private, so i clicked ONIVF and added camera it showed up in full screen mode...

Try not going into menue, try right clicking main screen and look in drop down box and see if you see sequence there and then click that and see what happens, other than that i dont know.

you don't want to delete nothing, under split view it should be :"Split View 1" that shows all the cameras in a column not rows i think that's where you are making your mistake .

Sorry i left out a step when under sequence tab make sure-split is set to view 1 to show all cameras then unchecked all except the channels you have hooked up the hit OK or apply only cameras that are hooked up will show now no more black boxes.
