5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

I had hoped to see my new camera arrive today, but it seems it left Longse's dock about an hour too late for FedEx same-day processing and so it lost one day. :( Now I've got to wait until Monday. :mad-new:

How are they powered?
Assuming active PoE, what is the power budget of the PoE switch and the rating of the individual ports?
Is there any way you could use a 12V DC supply as an experiment?

that page has the power specs i bought it because it was cheap about 35 shipped

i think its total 200 w Max and 15.4 w per port. I had 4 hikvisions connected and they were fine, since unpluging one this morning the other seems fine and has not dropped

Of the 5 S500's I have, one was constantly on and offline at night only, ran fine during the day. Probably the infamous external POE could not keep up with the power demand with the IR on. Bought the splitter klasipca posted earlier (thanks!), and for the first time the camera stayed on all night. Nice to know there's an easy, cheap fix to this problem, was on the verge of having to buy a new camera.

Good to know it took care of this issue. Was that poe inside enclosed space like a mounting box when it was going offline?

I tried bypassing blueiris and both cameras stayed on for almost whole day and night, the next day i unplugged one and later that evening when i plugged it back in i can only see a black screen no matter what i do? do u know the default telnet password . Ialso bought the splitter so we will see it should be delivered today.

Not in a box, it is mounted on the ceiling of my carport, with the POE up in the space between the rafters of the flat roof above it. But I'm in So. Florida, so it probably gets pretty hot. Only had the problem when it switched into night mode and needed to power the IR.

I have not encountered a black screen on this. Is it in web viewer? I had it in my other cam before when I had plugin issues

This varies with the firmware version - what firmware version is / was running on the camera?

S2L33M_IMX322_PTZ_W_6.1.30.3.FLS this is not for this camera its for LRDC60XA200, i originally posted here for a comparison since amanda said if i buy something else they will send the board for free so wanted to know get some opinion on the s500 or just use a diff brand

Interesting mount job. I like it. I also like the grommet but I think I'd place the slit at the bottom so that any water that gets in will drain out instead of puddling long-term inside the grommet. I can't see the pigtail very well but I'd probably hang it with the most waterproof side up (white end?) so that any water possibly running down that black wire or along the I-beam won't run right into the connection. It's fairly sheltered in there but better safe than sorry. Some folks don't even use the rest of the waterproof connection for those pigtails and leave them completely open.

deleting the plugins and power cycling worked, (I also changed the cameras in blueiris from generic to longse, before doing genric was the only PTZ would work) and disabled pullpointssubscription last night and so far so good

Well, sometime I will paint the camera, so that it doesn't get spotted so fast...

Cameras are a deterrent. Deterrents discourage bad guys. Therefore, why would you want to hide your cameras?

I'll take common sense over genius every day.

First of all, thanks for the critic.

but I think I'd place the slit at the bottom so that any water that gets in will drain out instead of puddling long-term inside the grommet.

Well, the front metal sheet is folded at the bottom. The rear metal sheet ends at 3/4 of the hole. So the very top of the hole (where the slit is) consists of one layer metal sheet, whereas everything else is double layer metal sheet.
To prevent rain drain off between the folded metal sheet at the bottom of the hole I set the slit on top. Besides that, it looks cleaner when you look from ground.

I can't see the pigtail very well but I'd probably hang it with the most waterproof side up (white end?) so that any water possibly running down that black wire or along the I-beam won't run right into the connection.

Rain is hopefully not a problem, since the cable and the I-beam is completely unter the roof, you don't see it in this picture but the roof is like 10 meters long. Condesation on the corrugated sheet could be a problem, but I hope that the waterproof connection hold.

I'm afraid that someone poke/paint on the camera, since it is mounted in only ~2.6 meter height.
1,5 years ago someone tried to get in the house, although the windows on the mainfloor start at ~1.7meter height and were closed they tried to reach it with the trash barrel. Thieves are ingenious in those things. So in case this happens again, I want to see the faces of these bastards. ;-)

So, essentially, instead of discouraging 9 out of 10 thieves you want to watch more than 1 bad guy steal your stuff.
