Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more! 1.6.0

actually correction (sorry), i first installed B iris, i chose import/restore settings... everything looked as was. (and function(ed)s as should - it does show Temp/Hum.. but no value.. which i assume is due to BIT not being able to connect,. then installed BIT... re did options/station Id from prior/working screencaps. And now i'm here 2day

possible something messed up from B iris import settings?

I have put together athread to act as a 'help file' or a place that provides details and explanations on how to use the software, what each feature and setting does, etc. If you cannot find the answers you are looking for in the help file then you may ask for support in this thread. Please view the add-ons wiki for information on how to use the add-ons system.

A big thanks to the beta team for helping get BIT where it is! Blue Iris Tools was built by me and is offered for free to everyone. I ask that you don't redistribute the software, rather direct people here to download it. I am not a programmer by trade, I just wanted to put together this software to help out the Blue Iris community. I expect bugs to crop up throughout the early releases but I plan on building and maintaining BI Tools long term, so if you do find bugs or have issues don't worry, whatever it is I will take care of. Just let me know. Please don't hesitate to leave your suggestions or feedback as well. I want to build and expand BI Tools as much as possible and have a lot of really good ideas that will make their way into future releases.

I plan on updating this thread when I release updates and will use it as a centralized location to discuss BI Tools. Please visit this thread for the help file and see the 2nd post in this thread for language files.

Download & Installation Instructions
  • Blue Iris Tools v1.6.0 Installer.zip - For new installations download Blue Iris Tools v1.6.0 Installer.zip and extract the files. From there, run setup.exe. If your web browser or firewall flags it, disable during installation. If you encounter errors during the install, please 'ignore' them if possible. If you have a previous version of BIT, make sure it is closed. Always check for an update after installation.

  • bit-update.zip - If you are upgrading from a previous version of BIT that did not use the installer then download the bit-update.zip file, close BIT if it is running and extract the contents over your previous installation of Blue Iris tools. You may also download and install via the installer if you like. All future versions will be updated via BIT itself.

  • error-files only for issues.zip - Only use this if you are unable to properly install or run BIT, then download the contents of "error-files only for issues.zip" and extract them to a directory of your choice. Run BIT from there. If you are still having issues then please post in this thread.
Donate
I have been asked several times about accepting a donation for my work, so I finally decided to set up an easy way to do so. While it's not obligated, it's certainly appreciated. Blue Iris Tools is free and always will be free, but if you would like to make a donation, you may do so by clicking here - Donate to Blue Iris Tools

The link to download has been moved to the top of the page.

Why on Earth would anyone want to Insert Google Analytics into web server files into their web server files ???????

I am trying to get the weather overlay working and I have all the permissions and the correct weather station its just that you cannot leave the APIKey blank when trying to get it from api.weather.com it complains.

$UrlWU = ""

{"metadata":{"transaction_id":"##############"},"success":false,"errors":[{"error":{"code":"CDN-0001","message":"Invalid apiKey."}}]} is always returned if the APIKey is left blank or wrong.

You cannot get an APIKey now from Weather Undergound anymore. You get the message:

Your API Key

No API key. You must own a Personal Weather Station in order to generate an API key.

If you click Learn more they want you to spend money to setup your own weather station which i presume gives you an API key. Is there no way to do this for free anymore?

Yikes. I am using KMNCOONR1 from another W underground user. I just tried another nearby station from a google search " weather station IDs Coon Rapids" seems to work.

I have no API key inserted into that box and it works fine.

Use somebody else’s?

You've got something else going on there. It doesn't need an API key. I have two different instances of Blue Iris Tools running on two different computers in two different parts of the country and I logged in and checked both just now, and neither has an API and both update fine. I even changed the weather station to a different one and checked it. It took the change, I forced an update, then verified that the update was correct/current. So keep trouble shooting it because it definitely doesn't need an API key. The only other thing I can think of to test it is to install BIT on another computer, ideally a laptop (that computer doesn't have to have Blue Iris on it) and see if it works. If it does, then it is some issue on your original computer like possibly a firewall setting. If it doesn't work, then if the different computer you installed BIT on has wifi, set your phone up as a hot spot and attach the computer to that and that will allow you to test it outside your network. If that works, then the problem is some setting in your router (which is why it is affecting both computers). I hope that helps.

I would expect that BITS uses port 80 so it can't be a firewall issue. However, if it does require another port, please let me know and I will open that port up to see if its the issue.

Different question here. Is there a way to disable or bypass the Windows UAC warning every time BIT starts? I really need my Blue Iris server to auto-start after a power failure and Blue Iris Tools is the one and only program that puts up a UAC on startup. If I can bypass and/or disable that roadblock everything will be rosy.

I tried this on 2 levels lower than default ( emboldened hash marks).
It worked on Never Notify.
