Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

When will we know if the IPC-HFW2831T-ZS is comparable to the 5231's under very low light?

I thought I would post this picture with a person in it from my Hikvision camera with a 1/1.8" sensor. This one has a picture of a car door checker. Notice that he is wearing gloves and the backpack is slung over his left shoulder with the goodies in it. It will be interesting to see how the Dahua camera turns out. The potential sure is there and I can see myself buying a couple for the backyard in 6mm. The picture was taken at 3 am.

Just grab a pic for the IPC-HFW2831T-ZS, the pic from my view was much better than the pic, and pic not too bright compare to the IPC-HFW4239T-ASE. We have lots of light in the night. And pic taken from 4th floor we live.

Just ordered one from @EMPIRETECANDY . Will post comparison w/ 4631EM-ASE (approx. the same low light performance) and the HDW4830EM-ASE/ HDW5831R-ZE) when I get it mounted.
My currently non-existent discretionary spending fund thanks you for this!

That's the Vari-focal version, but others on the forums have advised against purchasing from Alibaba because it excludes the shipping price and is generally geared toward bulk purchases.

Just e-mail @EMPIRETECANDY to see if he's got some in stock. He'll give you a good price and he ships promptly. (3-7 days)

You can also purchase through Amazon, however, they have their finger in the pie as well, so the price is slightly different than what Andy will give you directly.

I think that’s how Dahua describes it too. Weird.

Yup. LOL.

We all know they copy and paste spec sheets and miss certain things all the time, but it is still pretty funny when it is in the title.
dahua web too many mistakes. Normally I watch their catalog for checking specification.those more accuracy.

So far it performs (image quality) on par w/ the Pro series 8MP cameras. However I'm having an issue w/ the LED's not turning on so I'm withholding my review until I can verify w/ Andy whether or not the unit is defective.

Un-like the 5MP H.265 Lite cameras, it has a Max bandwidth of 8192Kbps...REALLY?? Which isn't that terrible if you run it in H.265, but still, not sure if you are truly getting the same quality @ H.265 that you're getting w/ H.264H.

Here's some hands on pictures though. It's rather compact, w/ no visible way to disassemble the housing (not so great).

Also, here's a picture of a 5231 "Starlight" vs. HFW1831E (H.265 Lite). (All exposure settings are Identical)

This is in a room w/ no lights on, with the door ajar about 8 inches.

Here's a side by side with the door basically shut (half inch of a gap)

And here's a HDW4830EM-AS (8MP "Pro" Series) after adjusting the contrast and Gamma to match the 1831E:
