Hi @cor35vet!First unpack it:
Dahua-Firmware-Mod-Kit/extract.py -c HX4X2X-Themis -v General_SD-Zi-Themis_Eng_P_Stream3_IVS_V2.400.0000.16.R.20160517.bin
Change to the extracted dir:
cd General_SD-Zi-Themis_Eng_P_Stream3_IVS_V2.400.0000.16.R.20160517.bin.extracted
Open check.img.raw.
Replace "English" with "SimpChinese"
Save it
Finally repack it:
Dahua-Firmware-Mod-Kit/build.py -c HX4X2X-Themis -v .
Now you can flash General_SD-Zi-Themis_Eng_P_Stream3_IVS_V2.400.0000.16.R.20160517.bin that is in the build/ directory.
The camera will accept it because it thinks the image is a chinese one (but it isn't muahah)
Obviously you need GitHub - BotoX/Dahua-Firmware-Mod-Kit: Unpack and repack Dahua IP camera firmware upgrade images. and all the required dependencies.
***Assumption Alert*** I'd expect the main chip in these cameras to be an ASIC that includes an ARM core. If I'm wrong, the statement is worth what you paid for itAM I ABLE TO UPGRADE.... the CPU in these?
I have test 3 times (3 files downloads frm your post) on 3 differents cams, exactely the same. I have this message
" illegal update, update fail, need to reboot"
any idea?
you need this firmware versionI have this issue with one of my new HDW4233C-A "V2"'s as well. Another "V2" came with english firmware. I'm trying to get the English firmware from the seller so I can update the Chinese one.
I no longer have the boxes to compare, but I ordered two cameras from two different sellers and both had "V2" after the model and the font on the sticker was thicker/bold. Internals looked identical, but neither camera will take the EOS firmware.
Have you tried resetting it to default via the button / pad on the PCB?Hi, new here to the forum, and found this topic while 'googling' for a problem I've got with my Dahua IPC-HDBW4431R-ZS
I'm unable to reach the camera after it has been working for weeks (with english firmware).
When is set a ping -t to the IP of the camera, the ping goes Ok for like 30-50 times and then it looses the connection for about 5-10secs and then the ping goes fine again.
The Dahua config tool does find the IPC-HDBW4431R-ZS once in a while (10 times refresh). I tried v1 of the tool and the latest available on ConfigTool - Dahua Wiki
But I cannot modify the configuration of the IP camera.
As I also do have a IPC-HDBW4431R-AS which is working fine, I tested the configtool/webbrowser etc. and this goes fine for that camera.
No problems with that camera, using it flawless over 8 months (set with reboot every night)
Reading through this topic I think the IPC-HDBW4431R-ZS is in a boot loop.
What steps should I take?
I checked the arp -a table, no duplicate IPs
I already tried telnet on port 23/2300 but this keeps Connect Failed.
Not tried to reset, as the camera is positioned on a 5m high wall ( I need a ladder to reach it)
I can do this tomorrow or this weekend.
Probably best to test it on a bench then, bad wiring or power delivery could also be at fault. Not tried to reset, as the camera is positioned on a 5m high wall ( I need a ladder to reach it)

Yeah they ended a month agoCor35vet, back from exams?
