Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231RN-Z not working :(

Mine was going on and off line last week (NVR connected) and I thought it was a heat issue with the switch getting too hot in the box, but later came back online and has been online until this morning ands if offline again after being solid for a good 4 to 5 days. I noticed it offline about 45 minutes ago and it's not come online again yet so there is definately an issue and I am not savvy enough to do all the firmware and confining I am afraid.

Seems you guys may have been correct. Connecting it directly to a computer seems to allow me to use the web interface without any hickups. Of course on that particular computer I'm using chrome so I can't see the camera preview. Maybe that's helping.

I guess I should reflash at the very least. Can I just use the images from the Dahua web site?

Crap. I did the flash, it said rebooting, and now the green light doesn't come on. It just blips on every so slightly before going off again. Camera seems dead. Can't ping the camera IP anymore.

Don't think that is possible. The camera is dead. No response on any port. Unresponsive to pings. Tried config tool to connect to 3800 but no result. Like I said, the green LED on the PCB doesn't light up anymore, just a faint blip. I can only guess that the firmware flashing went wrong or that the firmware I downloaded from Dahua was for another revision of the camera (though it should have warned me of that?).

The latest firmware is listed in the first post on the starlight thread....You need to be careful with incorrect firmware ..this applies to all cameras..

Hey guys, China is having a 4 days public holiday till Wednesday , the offline issues may happens due to the server problem. But maybe some other problem, can't be all offline at the same time. For the flashing firmware have to be careful, if dead only have to send back to dahua to repair. Please use the firmware on dahua website. And normally just keep the firmware as your cams initially installed. Not newer the better.

Can't be a server issue.. cameras don't need access to any sever to work...

Turns out I got the exact same firmware that is linked in the other thread: DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_Eng_P_Stream3_V2.460.0000.7.R.20170306.bin. I do recall looking at the progress bar which basically froze at around one and a half bar or whatever, until it suddenly said rebooting. And died. So I guess the bootloop/crash killed the firmware flash.

I will try to connect by serial and see what happens. It's RX, TX and GND right? While powering the camera as usual?

i have it on my desktop now, externally powered by 12V and directly connected. All problems are gone
Also tried to directly connect via the poe switch, so only laptop, poe switch, 5231, no problems

What could be the issue?
Normally connected to my poe switch thats in my network it crashes
When externally powered and connected to a non poe switch, it crashes also

Ither 2 cams, 4431, or working fine on that POE switch and network

as i wrote in my thread:
i seem to have found what causes it to crash:
When the cam is connected with the other cams on my poe hub together with the nvr its working fine, since an hour now
But as soon as i connect my homenetwork on the uplink port of the poe hub the cam goes down after some seconds.

Seems like some sort of overload on the cam with something?
