good idea. also try adding some more twists to the mic cable.
 
The Mini-Wedge has an internal cover that the mic is glued to with a wire leading to the main board. I removed the cover's screws and when I space the mic away from the electronics on the board that it's normally sitting right above, the clicking goes away, but the moment you get the mic near the board, the clicking returns. The mic cable is already a twisted pair. I suspect there is some sub-par electronic component on the board that is emitting something that the mic is picking up when it's mounted in it's "home" position.
 
Some more comparative captures with the Hikvision DS-2CD2335FWD-I 3MP Ultra Low Light 4mm and the IPC-HDW5231R-Z - locked in colour using flood lights. I bought three of the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Zs from @EMPIRETECANDY (thank you!) and I'm very impressed with their performance. One thing, though, is that in all cases I am using the camera at minimum zoom, which introduces some pretty serious rounding at the edges. I am wondering then if there is a similar performance Dahua camera with fixed lens that is cheaper that I should buy since I'm looking for one more camera now. Any thoughts?

:) It had a bit of a haircut- due to it being a good place to hide. It will come back in a few months (possibly more like 6 months) as I've done similar harsh pruning to other Golden Diosmas in the yard. I believe they're a native plant to Africa- so pretty hardy.

Take a look at this thread Dahua Starlight Fixed Lens Turret (IPC-HDW4231EM-AS) Have you also found the IR beam too tight? I found large areas at the edges were in darkness zoomed right out. (Or look at the Hikvision 2MP and 3MP Ultra Low Light models.)
 
@triumph202 - I have found that I'm getting some over-exposure with the IRs. Picture attached for reference. I have just set these cameras up so it is entirely possible that they are not configured optimally just yet.

Unrelated, but are there advantages to running H.265 compression? Seems a much lower bitrate.

Start a conversation with @EMPIRETECANDY. Ask for a Paypal invoce. He is sold out at the moment, but is scheduled to get 300 on 4/24. I don't believe those are all sold, but act quickly. They won't last two days. Next batch is 400 pieces beginning of May.

Also, PM him on AliExpress at his store. He must have the app on his phone and answers right away.

There are some different modes with the IR (I'm more familiar with the Hik camera's IR, but the Dahua is similar) where you can leave it in Smart mode or a manual setting where you can set the intensity yourself. If the automatic/ smart mode isn't responding as desired try manually adjusting down the intensity.

There's also BLC (back light compensation) and HLC (high light compensation), but I'm not sure if they would respond quickly enough when the problem is a person walking through the scene.

It may also be useful doing a reset back to defaults and see what it's like back at them. There seem to be a lot of settings interlinked on the Dahuas- change a setting on one tab and the options available on another will also change. (Be aware it also seems to reset the password back to the default "admin", get it wrong 3 times and it will lock you out for a set time period.)

Also, the first post by Nayr has a link to a firmware upgrade. That improved mine and also there are some set up changes.

Hey Guys,

The 110pcs HDW5231R-Z will ship out from dahua today, and this Thursday can be here, so all shipment can be delivered next Monday All over the world.
Seems the another 310pcs can be ready on Wednesday, so we can process them at the weekend. i will open to sell on aliexpress when i get confirmed news.
Those guys which waits for more than 3 weeks, thank you so much, next time, just tell me your transaction ID, i will do 5usd/pcs off directly for the new orders.
Why i can't put stock on aliexpress because aliexpress will forbid us to ship out in 7days, if all buy there and can't ship out, i have to ask all guys to extend the dates, too much work.

Thanks for the feedback. The first thing I did was update the firmware per the link on the first page (which has been an awesome resource!).

I have been experimenting with BLC during the daylight hours and it does seem to help with dark shadows. The scene looks a little less "real", but is more functional in that more detail is revealed across the scene. Will try at night to see how that affects things. I was underwhelmed by the WDR setting.

H265 does appear to be much more bandwidth efficient, but I'm not sure if my NAS will accept it. It only has an option for H264.

Is there any point in running the Substream? That's another thing I've been playing with.

Tripwire is detecting when the line is crossed, and it's sending "Tripwire" and "Tripwire Stop" emails fine, but they're just plain text, no snapshots of what's going on. What am I missing?

Once I got a Tripwire line setup and working, it crashes the Safari plug-in for me on my Mac. I have to use IE in a Windows VM to do anything now. :/

I am curious what is the purpose of the "Tripwire Stop" emails I get after the substantive tripwire email is sent. Kind of annoying to get an email with the exact same time stamp with no useful content. Is there any way to turn that particular notification off?
 
use push notifications, emails suck in comparison.
