Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

@giomania - Thank you very much for that confirmation.

One more question, seeing at this camera seems to be one of the most highly recommended models (HDW5231R-Z and the ZE version) for us "regular Joes" who just want good night time vision etc, is there a similar "most highly rated" one in the PTZ section that you would steer people towards?
 
I don’t know, but I think @nayr reviewed a Dahua PTZ.

What is the main difference between HDW5231R-Z and the ZE version?

How do some of the 4k cameras compare to HDW5231?

Here's a shot of the IPC-HDW5231R-Z (above) ikvision DS-2CD2385FWD-I 8MP (below) ointed at the same lawn from different sides. Hikvision has a 4mm lens, Dahua is probably zoomed in a little more. Very little ambient light, so mostly lit up by the IR of both cameras (each shot has the other camera in frame). Shutter for both is 1/60s.

Not a fully fair comparison, but it gives you some idea.

This is a camera a bought 3+ years ago (no clue the specific camera other than dahua). This was before I got on this forum and had a clue. @victor18 held my hand getting things set up and has been extremely helpful. Hat's off to him and this forum. The cameras have been good for a while but I'm ready to reinvest/upgrade.

These asshats have gotten into my cars more than 3 times in the past year and I'm sick of it. Yes- lock the car- but I don't have anything to steal and have too many kids going in and out of the cars. Time to upgrade and I've bought 3 new starlight cameras. Can't wait to see how they perform. I'm concerned the streetlight, which is in the background and has 2 other cameras on it (which is where the other 2 cameras are going), is going to produce too much light and not get the best performance out of the starlight camera?

This happens in my neighborhood quite often. I have been upgrading my cameras in order to get a better facial ID. This guy is pretty well outfitted for his "job". I could not tell by the pictures but most of the time they wear gloves at least where I live. I wonder if the beard if the beard was fake. Also it looked like he wore glasses. Maybe part of his disguise.
