Ah yes, was waiting for this reply (as my 17 yr old says, thanks Captain Obvious). Yes, I do lock the doors and so does my wife. We have children of various ages as well as other kids on the street. As is typical, one of them, will forget something, or need something (iPad) and go in and out of the vehicle locking it...sometimes. And yes, at times, I do forget myself as does my wife (don't ask her).

I'm a fisherman and believe, probably like these guys, if you are out on the water fishing, you can catch fish, if not, you never will...if you catch my...

...Soooo, the next thing I have up my sleeve is installing this train air horn I bought. Originally it was for something else but it is now going on the family Suburban, under the hood. It is so F'n loud that when i trialed it with my oldest son, cops came down the street 5 min later (success in my book!). I'll set up a switch under the dash which will be connected to the dome/door light. Flip the "on" switch and leave doors unlocked. When the asshat opens the door, the 200 psi airhorn goes off (I wish i could figure out a 10 second delay so he's all comfy in my truck going through my crap before it goes off -any techno nerds know how to do a 12v delay???). THIS would be youtube gold. It's in the works. I will definitely share on this forum.

And crap, can someone send me the link to where we get discounted cameras b/c we're on this forum? Didn't know that! I should tighten up and keep up with things around here!

I'm not sure it's the best idea, noise complaints and pissing off your neighbors won't help your cause... But if you do something like this, there's no reason to put it under the hood it might be more fun inside the car.

As I stated in another thread regarding playing an audio clip to get the perp to look toward a cam for improving the chance of getting an ID, I'd prefer the unmistakable sound of a shell being racked into a pump action 12 gauge shotgun.

Train air horns belong on trains. I live 500 yards uphill from a 21,000 acre man-made lake and on occasions some moron (yep, I said it) will shatter the silence for miles with an illegal train air horn mounted on a large watercraft. I will say that if I ever have the opportunity to find out exactly who it is I will report them to the marine patrol.

can anyone be kind enough to confirm what the dimensions are between the three mounting screws on the camera?

I am just wondering whether this will mount in the same location as where i had the hikvision-ds-2cd2732 or will i need to drill more points for this.

The Dahua U.S. site is too stupid to find the IPC-HDW5231R-Z but it comes up on Australia's site (thanks, mates!).
It provides a PDF file of the mounting layout with dimensions ==>> here.
It shows the radius of the 3 screws is 84 mm (3.31 inches).

Just an FYI. The Dahua US Site will never (with rare exception) have any cameras with the International names. The US gets cameras with different names, and may not even be identical internals, to the International models. The US site is a joke anyway, with far fewer available models as compared to International.

Another quick question, is the bottom mount independent of how the camera will be placed?

I mean do I need to make sure on how I want to place the camera before mounting or is that something I can adjust once the mount is up?

The bottom mount is independent of how the camera will be placed.

The bottom mount does have a notch in it (that gives the option for camera wires to pass through). You might want to give some thought to how you orientate that notch, but that shouldn’t affect your ability to point the camera.
