Dahua Ultra Starlight Varifocal Bullet (IPC-HFW8232E-Z)

Thanks to @nayr for great review and for other users for a lot of helpful info on this topic. This thread is very useful for people who are new to IP cameras world.
I wasn't sure if buying cameras on AE is a good idea, but after spending some hours on this forum, I've ordered 5 pieces of this camera from @EMPIRETECANDY at BEC Technology store. When I was trying to pay, the transaction was blocked by AE (probably because I'm new user there and my order value was high) and I had to send them scan of my ID card for verification purposes (I did black out sensitive data on scan). As far as I know, this is normal process (fraud protection).

Usually most vendors will do PayPal. AliExpress verification is a pita

Yes, I know about PayPal, but PayPal has terrible exchange rate from our currency to USD :(
So you can do on aliexpress no problem, which country are you from?

I'm from Poland. I've got USD on my private bank account, but PayPal won't let me transfer USD to my PayPal account - the only way to do it on PayPal is to transfer our national currency (PLN) and exchange it to USD. So it makes no sense to exchange USD to PLN and PLN back to USD (because of double loss on exchange rates).

Edit: I'm buying on AE for the first time, so I'm doing it very carefully :) The verification process has started few days ago, so it should be finished soon and I think that it won't block me at next purchase.

Does the payment engine of ali not work with your local bank systems ? I can use that here, and the authentication is via bank itself through a trusted middle man functionality.

I guess you haave to trust the ali sales person a bit as there is no warantee like with creditcard.
But there the ali system helps you as the selling party only gets payed after the goods are with you and you confirmem them.

Andy is trusted person for sure, so I've decided to buy cameras at his store :)
I could use payment engine by bank, but using this method, my account in Poland will be charged in our national currency (PLN), so this is not good way for me bacause I have account in USD and I want to pay using USD directly. AFAIK the only way to pay in USD is to use debit/credit card and this is where I'm being verified by Ali.
There's no hurry with my order, so waiting for verification process to complete is not a problem to me.

Today a client send me a pic for Vivotek IB836BA-HT and the DAHUA IPC-HFW8232E-Z, seems dahua beat them easily. Price around 120usd more than dahua.

First post - been lurking for a few weeks looking at cameras for a recent home purchase and am considering this camera. I'm also new to external home cameras. I was hoping to mount any cameras to my soffits, but only found this related post.

Does this camera come with accessories to mount to a ceiling? or just wall mount?

I didn't see that anyone answered this question, and I haven't seen any pictures of this cam mounted on a ceiling (soffit).

I'm sure that I'll have other questions, but I'd like to start by identifying cameras and mounting options.

Thanks,
Aaron

This is the bullet one, no such mount, if you want to install on the ceiling, you can use IPC-HDBW8232E-Z, thanks.

Darn it, I was excited to order these, but no adapter to install under a soffit/on a ceiling? That's crazy. I wonder if you could use one of the wall mounts for domes/eyeballs and just reverse it.

@all, I explained in Polish how to omit exchange rates via PayPal when paying from Poland. Tested and works.

No adapter required. Bullets mount perfectly to ceiling as is. Andy doesn't know shit from clay. He was informed about this over 12 hours ago but didn't want to lose face and correct himself here.

Alright, I just ordered some, hopefully he has them in stock.
One more question - looking at the pigtail -- what do I need to connect these to cat6 bare wire? One male end and one female end (one for camera and one for the wire)? Looks like the cat6 connections are bare wire off the pigtail and need to be terminated? Tried looking on dahua's website to find documentation, but couldn't
I have some people coming to install the drops, I doubt the cameras will be here before them -- so I want to have the drops terminated with whatever I need so I don't have to spend any more time than needed 25 ft up in the air.

Edit: saw the picture of Ryan's test setup, that black round plug looks like a female rj45 plug, sorry for the dumb question.

So people talk about wanting more Mp for being able to capture more detail if a zoom in on an image is needed. The usual response is that it is not very good w a 1/2.8 2MP cam so going to 4mp would make it worse and crappier night vision at that sensor and mp size.
...but since his cam's sensor is so much larger, why not make it in a 4mp and really take advantage of botb he large sensor and more pixles for forensic zoom in on stills if needed?

sorry if this has been posted already, but my IPC-HDBW8232EP-Z is always showing the wrong time. I have not enabled dst time, but I don't understand why the camera always changes to +1 gmt without dst while I set the time to +1 gmt with dst. no matter what i try, it always shows the time minus 1 hour :S. I am running firmware 2.600.0000.12.r with build date 24-03-2017. Anyone else with this problem?

I have tried changing with the webui, through smartpss, through the nvr, it all give the same result. it only works for a few minutes.

Check your time server settings. Automatic updates to the time may be making the time change for you
