Hikvision camera admin password reset tool

I just got and set up this camera today. I created a user name and password. When I try to log in through a web browser on the Hikvision site, it tells me I have the wrong user name or password. Im positive I'm entering it correctly. Why won't it let me in? How do I fix it?

I also don't know if it accepted the user name and password in the app.

BP2008 thank you so much - you have helped so many people .

UPDATE -->>>> 5.2.5 CCH 2132 dome camera successfully updated with SADP 3.0.0.2.

I used the full serial as cut and pasted from the Camera. DS-2CD2132F-IS20150413CCCH12345678 and well as partials
IS20150413CCCH12345678 and 20150413CCCH12345678. Hard to say which one did it - but likely the full one.

BUT I never got a successful indicator - all responses returned "password reset failed".

I did try various SADP versions going back to 2.2.x.x forward to 3.0.0.100, and so not sure exact version but I had 3.0.0.2 running when I think it worked.

I kept checking back at the camera to login with Admin - 12345 and eventually it logged in - but all messages back to me were fail.

HINT before you lose Admin , make some others users with full & partial privileges. Use the partial priviledge users for accessing remote access e.g. TinyCam and iVMS 4500 etc.

Best practice to never use the ADMIN over the WAN if you can avoid. If you lose your ADMIN then you still have the other user with full user privileges, where you can still change parameters till you sort ADMIN reset.

Did you try the updated 'backdoor-driven' password reset app - it does not care about serial numbers ?
Hi Alastair.

I used the lastest link on the first page as it referenced it had been updated.

So I didnt notice any other option?

I read about 10 pages of the thread but not all the 20 pages ( gets a bit long) and many pages were off topic.

Dont know why I didnt see / register what you are referring to.

No, that's the original, superseded, password reset tool.

Still in the first post of the thread, it's the Github link, right above the screenshot of the tool, that's the updated password reset app.

Assuming no NAS NetHDD is configured - when using the Playback menu in the camera web GUI to review the video.

I looked in the Playback menu in the phone app and it says there are no videos. But I have the memory card in there and I initialized it from the app. Is there a "record" button I need to hit to start recording, or is it supposed to record as soon as a memory card is inserted into the camera?

No, it won't do that.
You need to set the card up in the camera web GUI NetHDD menu.
You need to set up the type of storage actions required under the camera web GUI Storage menu.

They should have this feature in the app. I'll try to find that section. If it's in the website, I won't be able to access it because the website won't let me in, it tells me I have the wrong user name or password, even though I'm entering the correct info.

Suggestion to try in your browser, replacing the <camera_IP_address> with the IP address of the camera.
If you are very lucky - it may extract the configuration file without needing a password.
