No one stealing your nvr is going to do so to review your videos..Theft of the actual NVR is very rare. You can secure it so it will be difficult to remove. They are not going to spend time trying to take it....
The NVR's do not support off site backup..what you can do is use a second hidden NVR as backup...no one is going through your home looking for nvr's...you will need to either put the cameras on a network for both NVR's to see the cams...or you can try streaming from one NVR to the other...

I'm going to record to nvr and ivms-4200 on puter when out, odds of a thief taking both are remote.
 
Is anyone using a PTZ camera with this NVR?

Looking to run a couple of the Huisun 2.0 MP Mini PTZ cameras thru this NVR.

Just want to make sure PTZ protocols are supported before I buy it.

Guys, I finally decided to look into the fan noise. As stated a couple of times in this thread, the tiny fan is noisy.

I started by opening up the unit to see what kind of space I had to work with and noticed that the fan is inside the PSU. I thought this was a fan mounted on the case and a bigger fan would just replace it without issue. How do I deal with having the fan inside the PSU? I'm assuming it is there for a reason and the PSU needs cooling, right?

I am going to cut a hole in the cover of my unit and install a 120mm Scythe fan. Probably the 800 rpm unit. Draws less current and has a lot more cfm.

Do you think that will be enough to cool the PSU having the fan outside of the PSU? By the way the fan is located, it seems as if the PSU is pretty much the only thing that needs direct fan cooling.

Mine is the Delta one. You guys might have the CW ones.

This makes me wonder if the CW ones are louder than the Delta ones.

You may be right. I received my DS-7608NI-E2/P8 yesterday. I plugged it in today after screwing in the hard drive and the fan is relatively quiet. Maybe I lucked out on the power supply.

Edit: One more thing. In my case the fan is built into the power supply. It is not a separate unit. The fan is next to the on-off switch.

I have a Delta PSU and it is very loud. It is the one I want to replace.

There's an unused MOLEX connector! Maybe I can use this to power a different fan? I still have my original concern: the fan is inside the PSU; wouldn't this mean that it needs ventilation inside the PSU? Any fan I use will be outside the PSU.

Just as an update in case it helps others who find this thread, what I wound up doing was this:

Attached a molex power entension cable to the circuit board where the power cable for the HDD had been attached. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003L18WTQ/ref=yo_ii_img

Attached a molex pass through adapter with a 3 pin fan cable to the extension. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00M7GXZWK/ref=yo_ii_img

Attached a Zalman fan mate 2 to the 3 pin connector. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000292DO0/ref=yo_ii_img

Removed the loud delta fan from the PSU and replaced it with a Scythe fan, which I powered from the fan mate. The cable threaded through a hole the PSU case no problems. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0016CMCBG/ref=yo_ii_img

The HDD was plugged into the other end of the pass though cable with the 3 pin adapter.

Overall, the Scythe fan is much quieter, but not silent. The Zalman Fan Mate 2 only helps a little. For many people it would be unnecessary.

I can't seem to get the NVR to power on no more. It has been running from July to a couple days ago fine.

I think the delta power supply died in mine. There was no smoke or burning smell or anything like that. There is no voltage coming out of the red / white wires where it says +52 volt (from power supply to main board).


Anyone have any ideas on what I can test or how I can try and fix this?
 
Thank you for the ideas on the fan mods, I think I will do this on my DS-7716NI-SP/16 when it shows up. This will be sitting on top of a kitchen cabinet and needs to be silent.

The stock fans are 8200rpm, which is almost double of the Noctua at 4500rpm. And just for reference, stock fans flow 9.43CFM and the Noctuas I believe are 4.8CFM.

The fan in the NVR are temperature controlled so they don't go full tilt until it gets a bit warm. But do they scream when you hook them up to 12v outside of the unit, sounds like a mini jet.

I reckon anything other than a 40mm would be heaps better.

Hi everyone,
New to the site, looking at swapping out my noisy fan in my Hikvision DS7608NI-E2/8P. Just bought a Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX and about to install it next few days, I noticed the CFM statesAirflow is 8,2 m³/h ? have they increased the CFM on the new models?
 
CFM is the unit of measurement (Cubic foot/minute) and so is Cubic metre/hour.

Basically the 8.2 cubic metre/hour equals 4.8 cubic foot/minute so the airflow hasn't changed.

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense now. I ended up changing it today, pretty straight forward, I can notice the difference in noise, so happy with it.
It does push out less air, it is noticeable but I think its adequate, I will keep an eye on it.
 
Installed the Noctua fan in my Hikvision DS7608NI-E2. The Noctua came with the adapter that plugged right into the motherboard so no soldering required. Definitely quieter than the stock fan.

Hi Everyone,

I'm very close in getting one of those. I have some questions I need to know:
  1. What options do you have to backup your recordings? If you have 2*6TB can you create a Software-RAID or can you connect a USB Disk and safe the recordings as scheduled? I mean I don't want to lose all my recordings just because one disk has failed....
  2. in the IVMS-4500 Android App do you connect directly to each cam or to the nvr? Do you connect via Regsiter Mode, IP Server when adding a new device in the app?
  3. Does this nvr have enough power the record 8*4mp streams at the same time?
  4. Would it be possible to connect more than 8 cameras(seperate POE Switch) to this nvr or are there license conflicts?
  5. Can you set Pre-Recording time to like 1min?
  6. Has anyone any experience with the Windows Software IVMS-5200 Pro? I have an PC with a RAID Card. I'll guess installing and configure IVMS-5200 might be much harder and more complicated then just buying this nvr.

1. I believe it's just Raid 1 but not sure on that. You might can configure disk one to backup to disk 2 etc. I'm sure it's in the manual.
2. The app works great your connecting to the NVR and can view multiple cameras.
3. I believe the NVR is rated for 8x 5MP cams.
4. Can only handle 8 cams.
5. It's very customizable and I'm sure you can set to your preference.
6. Wouldn't waste my time with IvMS. This is a set and forget unit with no hassle once you get It configured.

I'm sure others have input to chime in.
