How To Upgrade Amcrest / Lorex to Dahua Firmware And Get All Dahua Features

OK, so this just in...

In the IP Config Tool, I downgraded the firmware to
"Amcrest_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Mole_Eng_N_AMCREST_V2.800.00AC000.0.R.191113.bin"

and then used the IP Config Tool to update to
"DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.800.0000000.19.R.200628.bin"

Just had to use the IP Config Tool, I guess.

I have a IP8M-T2599. I can't find the old Amcrest firmware to downgrade to. Is there a site with old firmwares?

I have a few Amcrest IP5M-T11179EW-28MM cameras and want to use them with my Dahua NVR302A-08/4KS2 (NVR4208-8P-4KS2) but the NVR does not recognize the Amcrest cameras. Can I install Dahua firmware so that the NVR does recognize the cameras? If so, what Dahue firmware should I use and where can I find it?

Hi @Adrianus

That's odd .. I would expect the Dahua OEM NVR to recognize the Amcrest ( Dahua OEM ) cameras ..

check that you have the proper user / passwords sync'ed up on the NVR and cameras.

You are correct! I did not have the correct password. The only thing that does not work is the Trip wire setup (IVS?). I can not find a way to enable it.
You might need to switch the firmware to get IVS. Can't remember if mine had it before switching firmware but I don't think it did.

Is there a way to revert back from the Dahua firmware to the Amcrest firmware?

I tried using both the camera's web admin panel and the Amcrest IP Config Tool and neither worked.

Hi @Adrianus

Check if the NVR firmware for the NVR4208-8P-4KS2 supports IVS .. some lower tier NVRs firmware have less features ...

If the NVR does not have the firmware for IVS it can not communicate that info back to the camera ( which needs to also have the IVS firmware options )

I have the same model, let me know if you have any success and what you gained by flashing to Dahua, thanks

Has anyone loaded Dahua firmware on to an Amcrest NV2116-HS NVR? I have one of those models, and I'm currently experiencing the issue where it refuses to do motion event recording on RTSP/ONVIF cameras. I read earlier in the thread that someone resolved that issue by loading the equivalent Dahua firmware to their particular model of Amcrest NVR.

I'm seeing a Dahua firmware labeled: DH_NVR2XXX-I_Mul_V4.002.0000000.0.R.210727

If I'm willing to take the chance, should I just be able to load the BIN file from that download via the Firmware Update page on my Amcrest NVR?

Thanks for any info or advice!

I updated my Amcrest NV4108E-HS with Dahua firmware with "DH_NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000005.1.R.210713". It works more or less, and has an interesting mix of Amcrest and Dahua branding:

It ads the AI search as well as the audio player.

Unfortunately, my live feeds and playback no longer work in the browser:

I've tried download the certificate, but I can't seems to make sure of the cert, nor do I know what it might be needed. It is in fact sending a certificate.

I don't know if I need to update the bootloader, if there is another way to fix this 'certificate' problem.

Thanks. I made the jump and loaded the Dahua firmware. Same result as above... get the certificate issue, but I rarely view in browser, so not too worried about that. Unfortunately it still doesn't seem to be recording motion events from one of my non-Amcrest cams, but I still want to fiddle around with it some more, just in case I'm overlooking something.

Interesting. I have that NVR as well....Oh reading further, I missed the part about live view issue.
Maybe I better leave it alone.

I got the certificate issue sorted out - eventually. I had to enable https, then I had to fool around getting Chrome to trust the self signed certificate. My mixed branding went away after I refreshed by browser - now it's the generic Dahua throughout.

So I have some recorders that are amcrest that have a certificate menu, but I've never had to deal with them, to get the recorder going.
Are the Dahua defaults different in the firmware?

I think the plain dahua firmware requires all the http streams to be over TLS. I don't know why and can't seem to disable it. My camera are only on my LAN, so I don't care about the encryption.

I received my IP5M-T1179EW-28MM and figured I'd post the steps I followed to upgrade to the Dahua firmware
Does anyone with this camera know what is added beyond what the Amcrest firmware provides?

the firmware posted shown in other posts shows a build date of 2020-06-28 but on that page there is a newer version with a build date of 2021-07-23

Here are my steps but you should be able to jump right to the latest Dahua firmware once you downgrade the Amcrest firmware

out of the box with Amcrest Firmware
the web ui shows
V2.800.00AC001.0.R, Build Date: 2020-12-30 as the latest
when I downgrade to Amcrest_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Mole_Eng_N_AMCREST_V2.800.00AC000.0.R.191113.bin
it shows
V2.800.00AC000.0.R, Build Date: 2019-11-13

upgraded to what was listed in the earlier posts
DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.800.0000000.19.R.200628.bin
shows as
V2.800.0000000.19.R, Build Date: 2020-06-28

the page where I found the above Index of /images/Files/Firmware
has a more recent version
DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_USA_V2.820.0000000.36.R.210723.bin
this shows as
V2.820.0000000.36.R, Build Date: 2021-07-23

I just bought a set of Amcrest IP8M-2496EW-28MM and IP8M-2493EW. I haven’t received them yet but am doing research preparing. I noticed that newer screenshots of the Amcrest config page shows IVS and Face Detection. Do the Amcrests now have all the native Dahua functionality? Is there any reason to flash Dahua FW over the Amcrest anymore ?
