your camera is an SA (per the updateSerial=IPC-HFW3841EP-SA you posted). just because the -AS exists as a Dahua doesn't mean it's the same...
(then again, they may well be close enuf that the same FW's work)

I would try the firmware with the right HWID in it (as i linked to) that most closely matches the date of your current FW.
In any case, you may need to use TFTP to get it on there... once on the DH fw, you should be able to upgrade via web GUI.

So in these directions
1. Rename the firmware to digcap.dav
2. Put the firmware under the same folder of this TFTP
3. Set the IP of computer as 192.0.0.128
4. Camera's IP can be anyone.
5. Run the tftpserv.exe
6. Power off and power on the DVR/DVS/IPC. The device will search the new firmware and upgrade it automatically.
7. Please wait until TFTP shows "Device [192.0.0.64] system update completed!" It takes about 5 minutes.
8. Close the TFTP before the camera reboots.
9. DVR/DVS/IPC will restart automatically after upgrading.

The camera has to be plugged into the PC or will the camera look for the file on a reboot?

Hello All, having some trouble flashing my Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW-28MM to Dahua fw. I've pulled down both DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.800.0000000.19.R.200628.bin and DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.820.0000000.28.R.210323.bin but both begin uploading, filling in a progress bar block or two, then errors out and reboots.

I'm beginning from this firmware

The URL dump shows:
Code:
appAutoStart=true
deviceType=IP5M-T1179E
hardwareVersion=1.00
processor=SSC328Q
serialNumber=AMC06070XXXXXXXXXX
updateSerial=IPC-HDW2531TP-AS
updateSerialCloudUpgrade=IPC-HDW2531TP-AS..... and so on
When I crack open the check.img file for both versions "IPC-HDW2531TP-AS" is listed.
I've tried uploading only through the browser, from multiple computers, within the same vlan and off-vlan.... nothing uploads. I have a TFTP server if there is a way to get it to pull from there.

From the GUI:

I don't see a way to point it toward a TFTP server in the GUI. Appreciate any help!
Follow the steps in the link Pozzello provided above (and quoted below).

Nope. Those direction are for HikVision firmware and cameras. see Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP
( I find the simplest way is to add the required IP's to my Windows box in the 'advanced' section of the Ipv4 configuration)

You need to down grade the firmware on the camera and then you can switch it to Dahua firmware. Use this firmware to downgrade the stock Amcrest and then upgrade it to the Dahua firmware, all through the camera UI. No need to get messy. I did 4 of them this morning.

I upgraded my IP8M-T2499EW cameras last year and things have been working out well. I've recently had an issue with temporary files and was wondering if I'm running the latest firmware. Doing some searches, it looks like there may be an upgrade, but that version sounded unstable. The version I flashed was this one:

DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000014.0.R.191203

Just wanted to confirm that this is still the best one to use, even though it's a bit older. Thanks!

upgarding to the newere amcrest FW may have updated your bootloader, which may prevent (or at least make it harder) taking non-Amcrest fw going forward. So you may be SOL..

my most reliable way to get DH firmware on these is to put the oldest possible Dahua fw that supports the hardware first (via tftp, if the gui won't take it) , then use the gui to get to the desired newer DH fw...
Looks like this is whats going on with my new T2599E... Just tried flashing to Dahua fw as Glenwood did with no such luck.

The firmware ware version was from Sept. 2020 ... (2.800.00AC001.0.R,2020-09-04) It isn't a major deal for me since flashing to Dahua doesn't pick up any exciting features for me.

I was able to down grade Amcrest Firmware as suggested by Teeauu with the link to the FW from 11/19 and that's all it took to allow for Dahua FW to flash on my T2599.

I've decided to stick with the Dahua FW for my Amcrest IP8M-T2599EW and IP5M-B1186EW cams for commonality as all my other cams are Dahua/EmpireTech. Dahua is still actively updating FW for both but I don't see that from Amcrest. Somewhere in here I read Dahua would apply the fixes to SmartIR to all camera lines, so that's a plus if true.

The IP8M-T2599EW Dahua FW I have now is DH_IPC-HX25(8)XX-Molec_MultiLang_NP_V2.820.0000000.30.R.210508 from here: IPC-HDW2831TP-AS-S2
