Hello everyone. I've read through the 101 and many other pages but I can't seem to get my mechanical chime to work with my ezviz db1. After replacing my transformer everything works except the chime. I even had an electrician verify my setup and he tested the power to be correct. My only assumption is that my nutone builder chime is not compatible. The compatible ones listed don't seem to be available here (Toronto, Canada). I was thinking of buying another mechanical chime from a local home Depot and hope it works. If anyone can suggest something for me to try please let me know.

If you're using the ezviz mobile app, in last version you won't find the option to configure the existing chime. In previous versions you could enable the chime and specify if it's electronic or mechanic. You need to use another mobile app to configure that setting otherwise the camera won't ring the chime.

Yes I'm using the latest version. What app do you suggest I use? I presume I don't have to apply another firmware.

@David L answered above.

The hardware is the same, the firmware too basically, but some vendors added some functionalities, like ONVIF. You can use Guarding Vision or Hikvision's app: Hik-Connect

Please read the 101 here for all common issues and solutions: New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera
Thanks, I tried to use the GurdianVision app but I can't seem to get it shared. It says the device sharing application has already been sent. I did get a pop-up on the ezviz app but it didn't share. I went to the manage sharing device setting and set that up using email address but it doesn't show on the guardian vision app.

You don't need to share. You just login with the same ezviz account. The cloud behind that tracks users/cameras is always ezviz.

I just bought this camera. Apparently my NuTone LA305WL Westminster chime doorbell is not compatible..Does anyone know of a compatible mechanical Westminster chime doorbell?

Sorry. Not sure if my post posted correctly. Would anyone know why my DB1 upgraded to Hikvision firmware loses its’ network connection SSD (local Wi-fi) and reverts to SSD Softap when the DB1 is powered down for a short period? Have to use Batch Configuration to put the SSD back each time. Thanks.

Okay so I got both apps and am able to see the camera on both too. When I try to remotely configure it all I get is connection failed on both apps. I reset the device and rebooted my phone and got the same results. Is there something else I need to do to set the chime option?

Which App are you using, which Doorbell? If EZVIZ App, you will not have the ability to pick your Chime (Mechanical/Digital/None). You will need to try Guarding Vision App or Hik-Connect App and set your Chime Option.
If you are in the US, make sure your Transformer can handle your new Smart Doorbell. We suggest a 16v 30va or 24v 40va. Also have to ask, did you install the power kit? We have found even though you have a Digital Chime the power kit fixes a lot of issues.

Hope this helps.

Did you find the Chime Option in the App? You need to pick either Mechanical or Digital Chime or None in the Guarding Vision App.

If you have connection failed on both apps you have network connection issues or the camera is not setup correctly. You need to solve those problems first. Make the camera work normally then do the next step.

When the camera works correctly, and you can connect to it through the app, you can then use Guarding Vision app to connect to it, and in the options you'll find the Chime settings, enable there and choose Chyme Type (mechanical or electronic).

I did not hook up the power kit. The instructions weren't clear enough, for me. Does the power kit install with the transformer power running through the kit, then to the doorbell connectors? The wires on the kit seem to be a tiny gauge compared to the 24ga doorbell wires coming from the transformer. I tried to find via Google a schematic of the power kit but no luck.

I'm using a 16v 30va transformer. Once I connected the camera to the transformer common and the doorbell terminal, the doorbell chimed until I pulled the power so I was unable to run the app. Drove me crazy.

Here's a schematic of the doorbell if anyone could tell me where to connect the power kit. It's the top schematic. The camera is wired between the '3' and 'F' terminal, correct?

Here is our diagram to follow from our Doorbell 101 So in your case the power kit will go in between your 3 and F wiring, in other words wire the power kit to your Chime then the Trans./Doorbell wires to the power kit.

I've noticed that sometimes during a storm, when the power flickers, the chime will get stuck in an infinite loop and keep chiming. I'm using a 16v 30va transformer and using the power kit. Anyone have an idea on the best way to prevent this?

Wow this thread is looooong! So what's the consensus on this doorbell? If I am buying strictly for the 2-way audio (intercom) feature will I be disappointed? I am setting up several other IP cams and a blue iris PC. We currently have a Ring Pro doorbell. It's OK but we find the best thing about it for us is being able to "answer" the door without answering the door. How does this work for that? It would be especially nice if anyone that has a Ring Pro can compare...

(forgive me if this has already been covered)

I’m in the UK and am using a 16v power adapter which I also used for my last Hikvision 2MP doorbell. No issues when it’s running but I have a lot of power cuts where I live. Occasionally a few Powercut’s in the same day. Also I turned the power off recently as I needed to temporarily use the socket the doorbell was plugged into. Each time, I noticed the doorbell does not reconnect to Wi-fi and I have to use batch configuration again to reconnect as the SSD goes back to Softap.

On Ring's website there are a lot of schemes for many scenarios, and they're good also for our favorite doorbell because they work the same way from a physical installation point of view. :)
