New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

This is on Android right?

Yes, Android 9. And that is some time ago, last time I tried...couple of months. Then I disabled everything. :)

Just one note: when you press ANSWER, the developers supposed you wanted to ANSWER to the call, hence it makes sense to have the mic on. :)

What you want to do is not answer the call, but check who's there first, so you want to "peek". In that case you don't need the ANSWER notification function, you need a way to show the live view stream when someone presses the ring button on the doorbell. Once you open live stream, you can also communicate with the mic if you want.

It makes perfectly sense to me.

The answering screen notification lets you view who's at the door and I have the option to reject/accept the call, like it happens for a normal phone call. :)

While the answering notification is displayed, there's no audio communication active with the doorbell.
In ios ezviz version 4.4.1 the answering screen is black. You have to answer to get the camera view, which also opens the mic on the phone.

Is that the lock screen? Did you try when the phone is unlocked?

If you disable the answering notification function, you should receive the standard notification from the camera, that should show you the picture of the person, when you press that notification it should open the live view. Did you try that?

Yes this is the screen I get when the phone is locked and someone rings. If I disable the answering notification I don't get a warning that someone rang the bell. I can get a PIR notifications, but I also get that when A truck passes by or the mail or newspaper is delivered. So that is not ideal and not the idea of a video doorbell. Than I had to buy a camera instead. So the logic of this is beyond my brain-power I must admit ;)

Can you please try when screen is unlocked and do a screenshot? Thanks. ;)

Same problem.

I remember seeing the picture/frame of the person in that preview on Android. So you can decide if you need to answer or not. I'll have to try it and see if it's different from iOS.

For PIR events, in the notification, do you see a preview of the image?

We see a preview of the PIR image in the upper banner but it's like a tiny tiny tiny thumbnail showing it's an "image" of something lol ....

:oops::oops::lmao::lmao:

These developers are incredibile. What else can I say. The preview of the image is the most important piece of information on that notification and the one for the call. Totally crazy.

Guys - anyway to just 'reboot' (not factory reset)? Mine lost Wifi connection. 2nd time its done this in a wee. I reset it last time and did it again this morning. Been 7 hours so I want to reboot to see if it comes back on. I have 9 other cams, once directly 4ft above the doorbell that did not lose connection so the Wifi itself is fine. thx

What WiFi frequency band is your DB on?

Power off / Power on or via Batch Config:

Can't use an app to reboot if the doorbell is not connected to Wifi. I meant how to soft-reboot from the doorbell itself.

I pulled the power at the transformer it reset JUST the Wifi? (not Factory, it still had all the video tweaks, etc) ... anyone seen this before... Just flashing Blue LEDs and the doorbell SSID is showing up on wifi scanner.

The DB was great and ran perfectly on Laview FW for over 6 months (didnt change any FW or settings) and now... arg!

I said Power Cycle OR Batch Config. Please read carefully. Those are the only 2 methods to reboot it.

There's no soft-reboot otherwise you would have found it in the manual.

Power cycle does not reset anything, if it does, you have other issues, try to do some tests on your desk near the computer, if you confirm that the camera resets at every power cycle you should get a replacement, or you have done an improper firmware upgrade in the past. Remember: when you upgrade to another vendor's firmware, you need to RESET the camera. If you don't do it, you can have many strange issues like the ones you're having now.

When I did the conversion from RCA to Laview FW I did a full reset, and it has been rock-solid until a week ago... then it disconnected from the Wifi and would not reconnect. So I reset it using the button (did not pull the power), and it was good for 3 or so days. I pulled the power yesterday and the settings held, except the Wifi went back to Direct Mode (factory default). Its back on the home Wifi now, we'll see it was just an anomaly or if the DB is having issues. Thx for the help

it look like that the recent update apps when iPhone is locked, when someone press the doorbell it uses iPhone built in unlock screen that take the call like a normal phone call so it goes directly to the EZVIZ or Hik-Connect app enabling the mic.

If the phone is unlocked while the doorbell is pressed then it will open up the app viewer with the mic "red and green button" to either close the viewer (red) or turn on the mic (green).

I am not sure if it the iPhone forcing the mic to be enabled when answered using the Locked screen API or why they choose to enabled the mic from locked screen.

I spoke with EZVIZ support and he (Alex) said because "I am the only one" complaining about it so they don't consider it an issue.

If you don't like having mic automatically enabled when answering the doorbell call - contact EZVIZ support at 1-855-693-9849 and let them know!!!! The person I spoke to is Alex

I used the feedback button in the app to complain. Last time I complained by emai it took then 3 months to reply. ( not understanding the problem).
