Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I still say it's the CCP virus, deliberately promulgated to the world by them.

Trump walking like a boss, leading by example. If he can wear one, so can you (for folks not in reality-mode yet). If you look closely, there's even the presidential seal on his mask, haha

Seriously though, at this point, its criminal not to wear a mask.

We are quickly becoming a third-world country,
The day the American consumer chooses to no longer consume, this country will flourish once again. This is not a subjective statement; this is truth. ;)

With the vast majority of things becoming quickly disposable and made by cheap labor, this country relies on the consumer to buy-buy-buy; but there needs to be a change to this dynamic. The everyday citizen is being enslaved by this problem (consumerism) and they will never be satisfied. This country always wants to be number one and COVID-19 apparently, is no exception. :( We've become a laughing stock; and sadly other countries are following the same suit, especially developing countries.

If we want to continue being a superpower, we need to lead by example. :)

I’d like to thank all of the millennial's hitting the bars, and Floridians of all ages ignoring the pandemic, with special mention to the families from all over the world attending the Disney reopening this weekend!

Great job!

Do you really think anyone gives an F about the holiday shopping season at this point? There are lives at stake. Those deals are targeted at an younger audience, ironic eh? Also looks like the NY Metropolitan area saw an increase in number of cases today (~340+ new cases). Cuomo celebrated way too soon.

I know its not supposed to be a joke, but all the kids should get a free bottle of Corona ;) I don't drink by the way :p

Sorry in advance for today's rant. Headlines really had me "pissed" today

Speaking of holidays, Halloween is gonna suck this year.

But Im still not going to Walmart and group hugging ;)

Florida numbers:
269,000+ Confirmed, 18,000+ hospitalized, 4300+ dead in 4 months. (So X that by 3 for a full year). Deaths in Florida re running between 50-100 per day (250-700 per week) and its ramping up. If it were 2-5 jumbo jets falling out of the sky each week, I think we'd look at it differently.

Are their countries with worse relative numbers than Florida? YES, Are there countries with Better relative numbers than Florida? YES

So far we have over 136,000 dead in the US in 4 months. Extrapolating thats roughly 400,000 dead for a full 12 months if it were to continue at that pace. Not insignificant, and that rate is climbing again. . Additionally most studies of those who have had it and required hospitalizations show long term heart, lung and neurological effects after being "cleared". Those folks arent dead, but it aint no fun, and those numbers arent being reported well or discussed much at all.

I personally know of a dozen people who have it or had it (5 within my circle of friends, acquaintances and their families). 1 is dead, two are in ICU just this past week, 6 had no real symptoms, and 3 others had severe symptoms they are still fighting 6 weeks later but were not hospitalized. Those 3 folks got it by hitting the bars around UCF (in their 30's), one severe, and none of them want to get it again.

Do I think its the end of the world? NO. Am I stopping living my life? NO. Am I taking extra precautions like wearing a mask? YES

I think though that this trend of drawing some hard black and white line of "its just the flu" or "its the end of the world" are equally dangerous. Its neither and I dont really want to get it. Am I a wuss therefore or one who doesnt care about my freedoms? NO. Im an average guy who'd rather not get it and am using common sense..

I know we've gotten to the point that some think anyone who even mentions the numbers must be some kind of wussy alarmist. I can assure you I dont fit that mold. Im not running down the street screaming 'The Corona, The Corona is coming" . I AM being very careful so as to not let my 82 year old Mother get it, and I'm adapting to the changes while going on with my life.

Dr. Scott Atlas of Hoover Institute at Stanford: Coronavirus surges linked mostly to protests -- and proximity to US-Mexico border

The recent surges in U.S. coronavirus cases can be traced to two key factors -- crowds of protesters and proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border, Dr. Scott Atlas, a senior fellow at The Hoover Institution, said Saturday night.

Most of the cases in the Southwest -- California, Arizona and Texas -- are occuring in counties closest to the U.S.-Mexico border, Atlas told anchor Jon Scott during an appearance on on "Fox Report Weekend."

"When you look in the southern counties of California, Arizona and the bordering counties of Texas -- with the Mexico border -- these are where most of these cases are really exploding," Atlas said. "And then you look at the Mexico map and in Mexico, that's where their cases are. Their cases are in the northern border zone states. And it turns out the timeline here correlates much more to the Mexico timeline of increasing cases than anything else."

Spikes in Texas, Florida and Arizona don't essentially line up with reopening but with Mexico's surge and the recent protests that have gripped the U.S., Atlas said.

"When you really look closely at these so-called re-opening policies, whether it's in Georgia or Florida or Texas, you know, we didn't really see a big correlation of cases and hospitalizations from that," Atlas said. "That's really not true. That's sort of some sloppy thinking, I think, again. We really ... have to look closely at why these things are happening.

"By the way. California didn't really reopen. Yet they have cases coming up. Why is that? I mean, that's because these cases don't really correlate to that."

"They correlate mainly to two things -- the big thousands and thousands of people with protesting, sharing megaphones, screaming. That's a setup to spread cases,"

Finally, an expert with some common sense and unwilling to set their hair on fire.

Dr. Atlas is an actual physician at least, but in this case he's ignoring a lot of data. For example:
1. Relatively few people protested (in the grand scheme of things)
2. A lot more people started going to bars and parties in the time frame of interest
3. Many places with relatively big protests had little spikes (particularly the northeast); many places with realtively little protesting had big spikes
4. Extensive contact tracing has been done that found some protest related cases but A WHOLE LOT MORE bar and party-related cases.

This dude is cherry picking the data; he enjoys a vocal position as a pro-opening mouthpiece. He's welcome to his view; several doctors I know find him laughable.

Nobody is going after his job, he's too funny to kick out.

Well, everybody seems to be pointing fingers to teenagers and young adults.
This may very well be the solution (below). What do you all think? pun intended

I recently marched in a local liberty and Justice for all rally; everyone who marched with me was wearing a mask.
