Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Kind of feel that by the end of the week the shit is gonna hit the fan big time.

I may have been off by a week...definitely wear a raincoat tomorrow.

Even in here in the Seattle general area, the total number of possible ICU beds is very limited. Of those, a half or more are already filled with critical patients. It is very easy to overwhelm the local medical system with a spike of a 100 critical patients. Blunting the peak with social distancing will help, but there are going to be flare-ups. Remember, the US medical system has been under economic assault for decades as cut-backs and cost savings were demanded on the care delivery side, while finance and business interests take the profits. Your US care providers have been long viewed as "costs" to be contained, not assets. Docs, nurses, techs, abused by the system are still held to perform perfectly each and every time. There is not a lot of reserve available in the system. Sobering fact... we're not far removed from Italy.

This guy from Harvard says the action China took to contain the virus was draconian, what do you all think?

Looks like shit is hitting the fan now....awaiting confirmation that this is one of our homeowners in the back of the community....but it's looking like 99% certain it is. Can anyone spare me some TP?

@Sybertiger , worst case scenario is to use a cup and water. This practice has been in use for thousands of years. If it still makes you uncomfortable, take a shower immediately after

Just got a screen shot from a doc in NJ with no patient identifying info... but it showed the ER board filled with 9 COVID patients. several were in their 30s.

Additional positive cases reported in parts of NYC, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester County as well. Numbers are being reported late (due to pending laboratory testing), there's a high chance of this number going up.

"The White House insists President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence "do not require" and do not meet the federal guidelines for coronavirus testing, despite close proximity to the Brazilian president's press secretary who tested positive for coronavirus. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is now also being tested for the virus, after spending Saturday evening at President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida."

Crikey...they must think were fuQing stupid...who actually believes that the President of the United States of America has not been tested.

I'm baffled by--> "...do not meet the federal guidelines for coronavirus testing"

Absolutely draconian yes...but a dictatorial communist state gets away with that stuff. Try that in America and -- IMO -- there's gonna be a lot of push-back...but the level of that push-back will depend in large part on how frightened John and Jane Q. Public are; frightened people will give up liberty.

I just hope that making my avatar depicting COVID-19 doesn't make me positive for COVID-19.:lmao:

If anyone here has taken this year's seasonal flu shot and exhibits flu-like symptoms you'll know what to do ;)
