Unfortunately likely very true I would hope that Andy would/will try to do something, particularly about the crazy shipping cost

Andy didn't break my camera. Dahua shipped a faulty camera to me...and apparently to many others as well. Let me be clear regarding my previous post: I believe that Andy has integrity. However, there has been ample evidence that many SD49225T-HN cameras were shipped defective. That's not Andy's fault; that is on Dahua and my bet is that Dahua denies everything.

And by the way: I would have much rather thrown that camera in my driveway and run it over with my vehicle a dozen or so times because I hate it. The reason I sent it back to Andy is so that it's defective nature could be proven...and I did that for all you guys who are also having these issues...so that maybe Dahua might make you guys whole after the egregious path of pain you, my brothers, have trodden. So you should all send me $5.00 to defray the onerous cost I have shouldered on your behalf.

Will ship back to dahua to check for this, and right now all SD49225T-HN use the newer version -S2. I haven't get any new complaint for the restart for the newer version.
I am thinking the board may have some problems when they produce it. Anyway, will get the answer soon.

Update: Andy has received my defective SD49225T-HN and sent it on to Dahua for service.

Today i checked with dahua warranty center, they said the camera is working without booting, but i ask them to make a longer testing, and get the log to show here soon on Monday.

Also I have another problem with my 49225 (I bought it from you while you were experiencing/recovering from the big hurricane).
After every power on (or PTZ restart) the pan-tilt program wipes out any corrections I've made leaving my Pan azimuth numbers as:
True North (TN): 98.3 degrees, TE: 8.3 degrees, TS: 278.3, TW: 188.3.
In other words TN is 98.3 degrees off and East & West are reversed.
As long as the camera doesn't do a power-on or PTZ restart I can correct the TN but I can't correct the East-West reversal.

Any help (solution) to these problems would be as great as your speed of light service

Today get some feedback from dahua for Reboot Mark":"Power Off", please measure your voltage of the power the camera using. Dahua enginner said Abnormal voltage make the rebooting. Because your log mainly are Reboot Mark":"Power Off".
For @Q's log the dahua warranty center tested well and not find any problem, so we move this camera to the engineering center for further checking. Will have news later next week.

We know poor power/voltage drops can cause this... I believe numerous people tried different cables, power supplies, and one if i remember correctly even tried direct 12v with the power supply next to the unit.

I wonder if using large couple capacitors at the DC input jack may help if this unit is that picky about voltage... Mine seems to reboot during rain events, so wonder if its more weather/water related than voltage (at least for mine).

If Dahua denies this warranty repair please send the unit back to me so that I can make a piñata out of it, run it over with my SUV, douse it with gas, light it up, throw what’s left into the harbor, and archive the entire pathetic spectacle on YouTube as a personal “thanks for the memories” to Dauhua.

please do... but at this point I would hope that they would at least send you back their "V2" model... then you can tell us if they fixed the issue (at least on your unit)... I would love another PTZ like this, but not sure which one to trust getting

dangit, appears that I have been bitten by this issue. I just got 2 of the V2 model 2 months ago and it was working fine. For some stupid reason i decided upgrade to this years firmware and one of the V2 went fine, but the second one is now bricked. It will power on, rotate and you can even ping for a few minutes, but no web page.

I tried the reset procedure, but the reset button doesen't appear to do anything. After rebooting, the old IP still ping for awhile.

There has to be a way to reflash this camera from sdcard, or some other procedure.

might as well get an amcrest next time from US. shipping back to china is not worth it.

Your bricked firmware issue is completely different then the issue folks are having in this thread.

I believe we have proved beyond any reasonable doubt that there is something profoundly wrong with this particular Dahua model. However, Dahua has a vested interest in protecting its interests and I expect that Dahua will deny the claim on this camera. If they don’t, they leave themselves open to a major recall. In this world, self-interest rules whereas integrity is the exception.

Im starting to believe you. I have 4, which appear to be the same model#, but different revisions. after upgrading 2 of mine, one bricked and won't reset. One blew out the female port.

I won't be buying anymore of these.

With any camera if something goes wrong with the firmware install the reset button won't work. There are there many threads discussing failed firmware updates across various brands, the solution was never and will never be a reset.

well the wyzecam folks have figured out how to reflash from sdcard. dahua needs to catchup with these $25 cams.

either provide a full proof upgrade/reset, or don't allow firmware updates. If I want potluck flashing, I'll got back to foscam.

WTF is that even supposed to mean. 99% of the time damage to camera ethernet jacks is caused by water intrusion or lightning.

I think you'd be better served creating your own thread than polluting this one. Your issue is very different from the subject of this thread. Be sure to include what firmware you installed, how you installed it, and where you got it from. Feel free to throw an @tangent my way to get my attention when you do, but know that I'm especially busy this week.

P.S. I believe it is possible to install firmware on a dahua camera using a micro sd card and the serial console, it's just a PITA and easier methods exist.

Update

Just get news from dahua R&D Team, the SD49225T-HN Qtm sent back has defective camera movement, will replace with a new one and ship back. Thanks Qtm's support.
