In his televised address to the nation on Wednesday night, the French president called for “long-term support to Ukraine”, which may include “sending European troops to Ukraine” in order to avoid a “fragile ceasefire”.
A peace agreement for Ukraine would be backed “perhaps, by the deployment of European forces”, Mr Macron said. “They won’t go to fight today, they won’t go to fight on the front line, but they would be there once a peace deal is signed, to guarantee it is fully respected.”
It comes as France and Britain, who are seeking to act as a bridge between Washington and Kyiv, are aiming to finalise a peace plan with Ukraine “in days”, according to European diplomats.
“We’re looking at putting this plan together in days and not weeks,” one senior European diplomat told Reuters, while another said the focus was on having all the “ducks lined up”, including a more healthy dialogue between the US and Ukraine.
He said he would open discussions about extending France’s nuclear umbrella to protect European allies, in response to calls by Friedrich Merz, Germany’s chancellor-in-waiting, who asked for his country to be protected by either the UK or France’s nuclear shields.
Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed to further peace talks with the Trump administration after the White House halted weapons deliveries and cut intelligence sharing.

It's not the balls that's mising. Europe is sewn up in a dictatorship.
Cameras watch everything. The number of cameras in the UK is only behind China, and the Government is determined to prevent any kind of social backlash. Those involved in protests against immigration and even those posting on social media against it, got on average 2.5 years in prison for doing so. Not saying some weren't racist or violent and didn't deserve sentances, but Government even released hardened crimials to free up jail space for the Vloggers. As for EU / it's allies opinion of America, new polls out thsi morning from across the EU, and bear in mind with these results, many are too polite these days to say anthing negative:

Just 40% in many EU countries still like or support the US.
As for why should the US continue to support it's allies, all I see is greed. The wealthy in the US not wanting to fund it's overseas security anymore. This isn't make America great anymore, it's stuff the rest of the world and stuff our own oberseas security. We'll hunker down in our island and forget everyone else. Well history has shown how that works out for the US.

what do they say about Omission of facts ?
Just for discussion from looking at it from the opposite end... After WW II, US provided all of the defense for the western European countries for a long time. In the past I wondered how those countries were becoming wealthier than the US, then realized that the US paid for the European defense while allowing them to offer things like free healthcare and more generous retirement benefits. Why should the European countries continue to get a free ride on defense expenditure, using the freed-up money for social programs that the US can't afford for itself?
As to the wealthy aspect, the divide between common people and the ultra wealthy is a problem and continues to get worse in the US. With this and many other things, the US is also sliding into the abyss, it's just some number of years behind the European countries.
Once again I stated what I though was a simple easy to understand fact, and you figured out how to warp it. You get the last word because there's no more to it than what I said. A 2024 anniversary of something that happened in 1991 is 33 years. I just can't see how that's debatable. or how to make it any more plain.

There's so much gaslighting in this statement, it really is incredible ..

Since 1922 Ukraine WAS NOT Russia, it was it's own Soviet Republic. Claiming Ukraine is Russia, is akin to Britain claiming the USA is British. Is there a joint history, yes - however Britain has no ownership rights to the USA after the war of independence. ( though try as they might, British did keep Shanghaiing Americans to serve on British ships .. )
2014 Russian invasion is based on false narratives .. not unlike the narratives Stalin used at the start of WWII .. remember Russia never accepts that it was both USSR and Nazi Germany that started WWII in Europe. Putin learned his lessons well, and has repeated them.
