Let me drop in on this thread, it's in the general area of my questions;

I have 2 Dahua Cams a IPC-HDW4831 EM-ASE and a SD49225T-HN, obviously 2 different firmwares and from reading this thread requiring two different "webplugin.exe" s which are mutually incompatible. As noted by everyone on this thread having to switch (uninstall, install) the appropriate webplugin is a PITA.
I've tried SmartPSS and Blue Iris, but I prefer the straightforward browser interface - even if it is IE.

Is it possible to have one camera on IE and the other camera on Chrome and be able to view them both by simply switching between browsers? - and not having to reload a webplugin each time? I've tried that but in Chrome while I can log in and change settings I don't get any video.

The other question I have is assigning ports for each camera both in SmartPSS and Blue Iris.
The standard, default port set up for both cameras is:

View attachment 35716

I've kept the PTZ camera (above) at the default port settings, but changed the 4831 fixed camera's TCP port to 47777, this works in SmartPSS and Blue Iris, but the video stream in both cameras has now slowed down considerably in the SmartPSS, BI and the IE browser interface.

Should I be changing more port assignments to get the normal stream speed back? -- and to what?

Thanks for any pointers,
Waldo (John)
Leave the ports alone, there's no reason to change them. Also, don't forward any ports to your cameras and disable UPnP.
If you haven't used BlueIris in a while, you should check out @bp2008's UI3 web interface. It's probably your nicest option for ridding yourself of plugins.

On the firmware info page cameras display a "WEB Version", this is the plugin version. It's likely possible to do some things to sort of merge some different plugin versions together and edit some registry keys to keep the camera happy without any changes or different cameras. I haven't messed with it recently, I mostly use the bookmarklets above when I run into an issue. A lot of people try to keep their cameras on the same plugin version, which is not the same as the same firmware version.

It is possible to use batch or reg files to alter the contents of the plugin folder or change which folders the browser looks in for plugins. A few people have posted about this, but it's still a bit clunky since you have to relaunch the browser. In some cases multiple plugin versions may work fine without any issues.

The NACL web plugin chrome app is another option.

The simplest place to start with issues regarding multiple plugin versions is:
Code:
about:plugins
This will give you the path to the plugin. Make a backup of this folder include the version and somthing about what camera it works on. Then install the plugin for the next camera. rinse and repeat, patch if you're motivated.

@tangent do you happen to have an updated link to the Mac download of smartpss or is it this one only - Mac ? Thanks

Well, you can use Dahua's Smart PSS software. I works pretty well but does have a few bugs.
you can get it for Mac OS X and Windows here: Dahua Wiki

Here's the link from the Dahua Wiki:

They don't update the SmartPSS that frequently. In another thread, I think someone found a fix to some issues they were having with High Sierra. I'll see if I can find it later.

I just realized that you cant set permissions in Pale Moon:

Pale Moon.jpg

In Iridium the permissions are there but no video because of the plugin.
Pain in the butt to use 2 browsers to manage the cams :-(

I had a hunch that would be the case from what I saw in the firmware.
Though some people were reporting problems with that version and haven't had time to test it yet. The latest NVR software looks like it's added some flash elements but may also work over hls or webrtc,

Well, the only problem I found so far are functions missing in the playback tab that make playback unusable. I guess you can't have everything. Using NACL all looks fine.

I've been running Ubuntu and have always needed a Windows VM to view video from my Dahua NVR and cameras. Now that Chrome is available, not stuck with Chromium, I just gave NACL Web Plug-in a shot. When opened it complained about needing an app installed. This directed me to install Easy Viewer, also from the NACL Web Team. Easy Viewer is working great and I'm so excited to be able to finally cut my ties to Virtual Box. I've uninstalled the NACL Web Plug-in and Easy Viewer still works fine.

A question for anyone familiar with Chrome command line switches. How do I get Chrome to start that uses the Easy Viewer Extension and also loads my NVR IP address? I've tried several syntax versions of --app="http://myIPaddress" and --new-window myIPaddress with no luck getting it to start with my NVR web page and continue to search for a solution.

With NACL I get no video.
I found another plug in called Easy Viewer, working 100% on my Dahua's (atm) in Chrome.

Trying to install Smart PSS on a win 10 64bit PC. I can download and install but the SmartPSS interface is tiny. So small i cannot make out what is what and the text is unreadable. I can close it as I know where the close cross is but nothing else. I'm doing this so I can view the cams through the pc as well as the DVR.

I'm running 8 cams through poe and a dvr linked to my router. If I try to access any of the cameras it is a no go, if I try to access the nvr I get download the Chrome app. Been at this for days with no breakthrough, any tips?

Can you post a screen shot? What resolution and size monitor? What text scaling options are you using?

You may need to temporarily lower your screen resolution.

SmartPSS interface is tiny because of your screen resolution. I have that issue on my 4K monitor, too. SmartPSS is not an app that is works well with Windows 10 on higher resolution screen. Use a monitor 1920x1080 should give you enough screen size for SmartPSS.
Use latest version of Pale Moon browser, and you won't have a problem with accessing either the NVR or your cams. If you plug you cams in the built-in PoE ports on the NVR, that is a closed network that you can't get to, so it won't connect.

Hi, Thanks for the prompt replies. I'm using a Panasonic TX-58AX802B which is a 58" UHD LED screen as my monitor. I have installed the IE plug in and the log in screen is there but again it's tiny. Tried to do a screen grab but it(Chrome) says it will not run an extension withing another extension I'm currently running the resolution at 3840x2160
