I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this thread! For the life of me, I could not figure out why my Dahua 5231 was showing up in Blue Iris as "no signal." Changing the codec back to H264 snapped it right on in BI. Phew.

In the newer bi releases it automatically disables hardware acceleration.

@fenderman I have 6 5231-ZEs that I'm installing at our new house. In order to take advantage of hardware acceleration, should they all be set to H264 and not H265? Thanks

@105437 Depends on your computer hardware. I think hardware accel for H265 works on Nvidia CUDA, but not Intel Quick Sync. If you don't have a separate Nvidia video card, use H264.

I really think it's a Blue Iris issue, not an Intel issue, as H265 hardware acceleration works on KODI on +6th gen Intel CPUs.

Thanks @Walrus. Is there a way I can check to see if it's actually working or not? I'd like to try it and see. Appreciate it.

Not sure with CUDA, but with Intel you just pull up task manager, and beside Blue Iris, you'll see it's using both CPU and GPU, and list a GPU engine beside it.

I'm running BI on an older Dell Optiplex 3010 so I'm guessing that's the reason I don't see the GPU column.

Again... depends on the hardware. What CPU does it have?

That should support hardware accel. Why it doesn't show the GPU column, I can't help you there.

Not sure but I'll try changing the cameras to H264 tonight and see what happens.

You also need to enable intel accel in BI settings on the cameras tab:
