Do we know who put this up and have reason to believe it is official vs what we get from Andy?
I don't know. But I know this source longer then Andy. Until now i did not have any doubts.

Well that is good to know, I am relatively new to all of this and am leery of tampered/infected firmware. If you have had good luck with this source that says a lot. You are running this cam firmware with no issue? I am on NTSC now but am curious to try - as I understand it the only real difference (if I run h.265 on main stream to hit 30FPS) is that my secondary stream resolutions are different and perhaps sub-30FPS. I will in the future be outputting to some HDMI monitors in the house, are you aware of if PAL signals will prove a problem for this (I imagine not)?

Digital is digital, PAL vs NTSC doesn't really matter any more.

Present the Dahua Pro NVR 2 Disk 16CH 16PoE+ 4KS2 (5216-16P-4KS2)
View attachment 15441 View attachment 15442

Initial Impressions: I'm directly comparing this to my experience w/a 4216-4K.. I have 10 Channels of 2MP-4MP cameras on H264 & H265 connected via external PoE, I will not be using any of the internal PoE ports on this.
  • Built in Power Supply and Chassis Fan (Not Silent)
  • Much Faster Response time searching recordings w/Dahua Clients
  • Much Snappier interfaces, responds very well compared to the lite model.
  • Fewer GPIO Ports, but I was not utilizing all of them on the Lite.
  • Still lacks IVS setup on WebUI for some dumb reason, its enabled on OSD and SmartPSS.. OSD Gives you more options.
I applied the firmware from this page as instructed and got English/Spanish/French w/NTSC: USA/NVR/Pro/DHI NVR52A16 16P 4KS2 - Dahua Wiki

Features:
  • Up to 16/32 channel IPC input

  • 4/8/16 channel synchronous realtime playback, GRID interface
  • Support Multi-brand network cameras: Dahua, Arecont Vision, AXIS, Bosch, Brickcom, Canon, CP Plus, Dynacolor, Honeywell, Panasonic, Pelco, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony, Videotec, Vivotek and etc.

Thanks! It looks like there is room for 2 HD's. Should I get 2? If so, how big? Plan on around 6-8 cameras.

For reference, I have a single 4TB and get 6 days with 6 cameras at max bitrate.

FYI - do take a look at this thread... looks like a WD Red drive in these WD external storage units.
( note, WD purple is the official HDD for surveillance camera system.. however before that line came to be a lot of people used Red HDDs which are rated for 24/7 NAS operation.. )

@nayr has also used more than the "max"

Pretty sure he has a 10 and 4 or maybe 10 and 6.

I've only got a single 4TB WD Purple.

5 cams, I get maybe 10 days?

Three of them are at 15 and I think the other two that watch my chickens are only set to 5 and probably a lower bit rate max.

Edit - For what it's worth I actually have 13 days. But who knows, I may have played with the settings in the past 2 weeks. Anyway it's quite a bit longer than 10 days I had thought.

I updated also with the unofficial firmware from @EMPIRETECANDY. Although the name of the file suggested me a wrong device (-4kS2 should it be) it works.
With the first step I upgraded from a german webif, without factory reset, and the push registration is now working. Thats fine. But I had a big problem with importing my config backup from the previous firmware after a factory reset. It is simply impossible. So I flashed back my old firmware.

I read here that the ivs global tab is removed. In my case it's still there, also after a factory reset.

Did some of you tried the hdmi out with an UHD TV? My testing with the first firmware release of this device were horrible. The picture quality was far beyond from being ok.

@nayr or the rest, Who can give me the HTTP API description file for NVR? The IPC one I have only works with the cams, not with nvr's. I need it for solving the day/night focus and sunset/sunrise profile switching problem. I want to write a script for raspbian.
