Can I ask something "stupid"?

Can the foot be angled at 80-90 ° for mounting on the ceiling?

Yes it can.

From the manufacturers website:

Pan/Tilt/Rotation Range
Pan:0˚~360˚; Tilt:0˚~90˚; Rotation:0˚~360˚

Enjoy

I just bought the 5231 with the 1/2.8" sensor for a certain location. Now comparing it to this 8232 which I have 3 of, I am reminded how much better these cameras are with the 1/1.9" sensor at night. :) Of course you pay more money which is always the trade off.

Just wish they had a sun filter in them to help deal with the flare.

how much of one do you need?

there is the shade that can be adjusted on the top, like the rest of the bullets with the same housing. or do you mean something different ?

I have the one on the unit as far out as it will go. I also installed a longer one on top of that.
I think I need to add a polarization filter.
The camera faces East, and catches the rising sun. IT CAN NOT BE RE-AIMED.
I use it to watch the sky. any other direction faces trees.

Oh well, guess the sun finally killed mine.sky_eye (1).jpg sky_eye.jpg
I so liked the night time ability of this camera.
Have to go on the search for a new one that has a sun filter installed.

Don't think it is the IR Filter. I think I have burned the sensor. I have powered cycled 3 times. Tried every setting the camera has, and I can not get it to go away.
I have always had an issue with sun flare and bright moon light.
Looking for a camera that has better filtering...... aggggg

you have not burned the sensor. The ir filter is stuck on. interestingly the good image is a day AFTER the bad image.

Why would a stuck IR filter give a bloom on the right side of the image?
Will climb the tower in a bit and have a look, might be able to give it a few taps and free it up.

Because it's blocking the IR from the sun if the sun is above it then yes you have a damaged sensor or possibly damaged or dirty lens cover.
