Hikvision NVR DS-7104N-SN firmware

A number of non-Hikvision vendor-specific video protocols are available/supported from the drop-down menu in the cameras setup, but I have no experience with them. From what I have read you may be limited if you go with ONVIF, but I don't have any experience with this first-hand.

I need help. I think I'm screwed.
I have upgraded firmware (I think I installed the wrong firmware in my NVR 7604N)

After the NVR upgrade it reboots every 40sec.

I have tftp and setup my NIC with address 192.168.0.128 & 192.168.0.1 & 192.168.2.1 & 192.168.1.1 none communicate with the NVR although it see the connection "unidentified network". (My NIC is configured for auto-negotiate therefore no nee for a cross-over cable. I just used a straight-through.

I have read forum, and I don't see anyone one having this issue. I think I am royally screwed.:sad2:

The NVR will likely be recoverable, though probably to it's original region, maybe CN.
The PC IP address should be configured as 192.0.0.128 to use the Hikvision-specific tftp updater. A copy and instructions in the link here, if you don't already have it : https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthrea...are-Downgrader-5-3-0-Chinese-to-5-2-5-English
And you would be best not to use a direct connection - that can be troublesome due to timing of the interface up/down/up that the NVR does on startup. Just connect NVR and PC as normal to your switch and/or router. No WiFi.

What firmware did you use for the update that caused the problem?
The beeping is maybe a complaint that you have used ML or US firmware in a CN NVR.
What firmware was originally installed?
The splash logo suggests a recent manufacture NVR. What is the approximate date, and do you know what region the NVR is set to?

For 7604N (not the subject of this thread - is it really a 7604N?) I'd normally point you towards the Hikvision Europe download site but oddly it's been down for 3 days.
If you want to experiment in the meantime - at the expense of CN menus - try the 3rd one down here : http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/download_89_p1.html
But you'll likely need to change the language of the firmware header to 2 with Hiktools here : https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthrea...anguage-extract-files-and-create-own-firmware

alastairstevenson Thanks for replying.

This is what firmware I used: DS-76xx N1-E1(E2) 3.3.5:DS-76xxNI-E1(E2)P_USA_Firmware_3.3.5_151127

This was the instructions I have used;
http://www.hikvision.com/uploadfile/file/201433116851896.pdf

I used a straight connection (laptop to NVR) I have disabled wifi from the Laptop. I have config the NIC to 192.168.0.128. The NIC show "unidentified network"
The NVR reboots over and over again every 45 sec.

I guess my first problem is. I need to have a connection with the NVR. I don't know how this is possible when the NVR reboots ever 45 sec. (Did this happen to you?). I read forum after forum. They connect there PC to the NVR and TFTP the file using address 192.168.0.128. This is not working for me.

Not a problem - because on startup it probes for the Hikvision-specific tftp updater as part of the bootloader, before continuing with the normal boot sequence.
Unless Hikvision have removed that feature on the newest NVRs, in which case a wired connection to the serial console will be needed.

(did this happen to you)
All the time when I'm tinkering with the NVR.
Behind the scenes it will likely be saying something like:
Code:
"!!!!!!!you Device is illegal, Please call factory!!!!!!
!!!!!!!you Device is illegal, Please call factory!!!!!!
!!!!!!!you Device is illegal, Please call factory!!!!!!
!!!!!!!you Device is illegal, Please call factory!!!!!!
!!!!!!!you Device is illegal, Please call factory!!!!!!
!!!!!!!you Device buy in cn, you firmware is en err!!!!!!
!!!!!!!you Device is illegal, Please call factory!!!!!!
!!!!!!!you Device buy in cn, you firmware is en err!!!!!!
"
While beeping annoyingly.

*edit*
The connect there PC to the NVR and TFTP the file using address 192.168.0.128. This is not working for me.
The correct address to use is 192.0.0.128

*edit 2*
Using the USA firmware will trigger the beeping and reboot and "you device is illegal" (sic) message when it's a CN region NVR.

For a 7604N - the right firmware will depend on the region of your NVR.
If you can access this site, which I can't just now, look for the 7600NI firmware http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/index.php?dir=Product Firmware/
There will be various versions available.
If your NVR comes up OK but with CN menus, you need to try the oldest version available, I think it was 3.0.10, that will work in English.
Then if that works, a web GUI update to a later and more useful version will preserve the EN menus.
If that doesn't work - let me know and I can supply a 3.0.8 multi-language version as the starting point.

Thanks alastairstevenson

this is a dead link " http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/index.php?dir=Product Firmware/"
also this is a dead link "http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/"

But this link works "http://overseas.hikvision.com/europe/Tools.aspx" (I am guessing they have changed the link)

So I tried this: http://overseas.hikvision.com/europe/dir=Product Firmware/ (but doesn't work)

I am still trying to get the ball rolling. I am trying to if an old version 3.0.10. I have message the supplier where I got my box from @ Ali-express

I wish someone had these files in a SkyDrive or Dropbox. It would make all lives easier.

Same issue!

I'm hoping you could help me out. I had a 7608N-E2/8P that I was configuring for a job on the 3.3.4 firmware (I think). Anyway - it only added 6 out of the 7 cameras I was installing. After doing a factory reset, none of the cameras would show up. What the heck? I tried flashing a different firmware but I think I put the wrong one on (it's a green image). When I turn on the NVR, it boots up to that screen, beeps like 15 times and then resets.

I tried doing TFTP, but it doesn't work. I have the laptop set to 192.0.0.128 and I can ping 192.0.0.64 when it boots until it resets. At no point can I get the TFTP program to load a different firmware. I've tried putting both connections to a switch, direct, etc.. No dice. Does anyone have any tips I can try?

More importantly - I don't understand why I have so much trouble getting the cameras to work on this firmware. Something with the Plug-n-Play? Thanks for any information...

Matt

Are you trying the tftp updater on a Windows 10 PC? That is known to be unreliable. Windows 7 works OK.
And you are definitely using the Hikvision-specific tftp updater? (copy and instructions inside the download link here: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthrea...are-Downgrader-5-3-0-Chinese-to-5-2-5-English)

I have a suspicion - unproven as I'm unable to test this myself - that some of the previous tftp updater functionality has been removed from the most recent manufacture NVRs.
It would be interesting to hear if this is true from others experiences.
Remember that some months ago Hikvision removed all instances of the tftp updater from their websites.
If the tftp capability has been reduced, the next recourse would be the serial console connection.

Hi there-

Thanks for the quick response. Yes - I am trying it from a Windows 10 PC. I was using an HP laptop with Windows 10 and have updated many cameras with TFTP and no issues. Recently, i've been using a Dell PC with Windows 10 (Firewall off) and haven't had any luck. I suppose I can try to do a TFTP update on a camera and see if it works. If that's the case, I know that it has something to do with the newer firmware. I did a console update through the USB port on the last firmware try.

Can you explain to me how the serial console connection works given that the unit doesn't have a serial connector on the back?

Thanks,
Matt

The cameras and the NVRs have a 4 pin plug on their main boards which provides the TTL level signals (similar but not the same as classical RS-232) for the serial console connection to communicate with the CPU.
The parts required are widely available, and are quite well described here:

It accepts the TFTP file fine using Windows 10 with my HP PC.

Hello Everyone.
I'm new in this fourm. Last Week I have brought HIKVISION DS-7104N-SN/P NVR from China. But the problem is, NVR GUI (TV Display) is in only Chinese. But I can access Web in English. NVR Loaded firmware version is 3.0.18 build 151231 (may be Chinese version). Can you please some one help me to change the NVR GUI (TV Display) to English? Is it possible to load the English firmware without affecting the functions? Please Advice. Thanks in advance.

Karthick

Dear Defender,
