Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

So it does work, albeit the wedge (and consequently the Ring doorbell) is a tad shorter than this one. What I ended up doing is using the screw hole at the top of the top of the wedge lined up with the top screw mount on the doorbell and the original hardware.

The bottom screw goes straight from the doorbell into the wall.

Ultimately it does the job.

Could you post a picture? I’m curious as well.
 
Has anyone triggered of a "home automation event" when someone presses the door bell? I'm thinking if there is a way to send a http request when the doorbell is pressed? Or if the door bells exposes an API?
 
I've posted this question in Hikvision doorbell topic, but thought it might be appropriate to ask it here as well since hardware is identical.
Can anybody suggest a way to access WDR setting? I want to see what it looks like with it off and on and whatever other settings it might have, but I can't seem to be able to access this particular setting. I tried latest iVMS-4200 client but there's just no such setting on the left hand side list of configuration options.

Currently the firmware has the majority of those settings disabled. As far as I'm aware there's no way around it.

Here you go! It doesn't miss it by much but just enough so you can screw the lower screw into the wall without interfering with the wedge. I currently have one installed but will probably pop another one on there soon.

I am still fighting to make this work with my nutone doorbell unfortunately. I've installed an August chime board connected to the FRONT and TRANS connectors which did not make a difference as best I can tell, and I have tried to adjust the volume rheostat as well. Too low and the Nutone does not ring but the doorbell works normally. Too high and the Nutone rings but the doorbell resets.

It seems that when the Nutone rings, there is enough of a voltage drop in the circuit powering the doorbell causing a reset. My next course is to try the August chime board in series on the circuit to see if that makes a difference as opposed to connected to the two contacts at the chime base.

On any home or truck project when power drain are an issue for me, I overcome this by adding another power supply and a relay switch. I am thinking in your case that a relay switch doesn't take much power and it can be used to operate a chimer with it own power supply separate from your doorbell circuit.

I have seen this suggested elsewhere and it may be the route I try if my next round of experiments fails.

Could you point me in the direction of a suitable relay to accomplish this task? I must admit to being totally green when it comes to this side of electrical devices.

I used to do electronic engineering but now I am a web developer so I just know it should work in your case however I don't know if there a thread out there on how to build one for a doorbell. Let me do some goggling to see if if anyone ever create a blog of thread on about it or similar project.

I searched on the net but couldn't find anything. This is how I think it should work for you if the chimer is picky about how much voltage is being fed to it. You get a relay switch (automobile 12V relay switch should work) and a 12V power adapter to supply the power to the relay switch coil.

Connect your doorbell contact switch to the 12v power adapter (make sure that 12v is within the doorbell specification range) and the coil on the relay switch so when the button is pressed, it will feed power to the coil closing two contact points which is the switch inside the relay.

You would connect your Chimer and the 24Volt supply which you said works best with it to the relay switch contact points.

That's very interesting. I just don't understand why Hikvision advertises WDR as an available function if it's disabled? Any ideas?
 
Because they are Chinese and will say anything they want to make a sale...

They certainly are Chinese, however I was under impression this is reputable company and are leading in the market of surveillance equipment. My bad for not researching I guess. Thanks for taking time to answer.

Can you recommend companies in price ranges? Or perhaps there's a document of some sort that lists all that, I would love to read it.
Sounds like you will have to stick with Hikvision...you should be using a proper camera for ID at the front door...
 
@iakov Actually, they do make great products and definitely are the leading manufacturer of surveillance equipment currently.

You must be looking at the wrong spec sheet if you see WDR and yours doesn't have it. Keep in mind they have different versions of the doorbell. What does the spec sheet say where you purchased yours? Whats the model number?

It's possible whoever you got it from grabbed the wrong specs when they listed it...
 
Hi Ryan, I purchased Hikvision DS-KB6003-WIP. Hikvision website does list it as having WDR capability. I apologize if this is wrong thread though, it's not LTS product, but by all accounts it is identical product hardware wise.
 
Tried to install without a wedge and there is too much coverage on one side. Does anyone have an stl file for a 15 degree wedge? If not, I might model one, should take like 5 minutes tops.
