might be a good info to put in the 101 unless I'm the only one with the problem as of now. I followed the link in the 101 and it goes to the version 3.0.3.8 on HIK US website

The Dahua (Amcrest) Doorbell is nice but I am a fan of the 180 fish eye view. I have to admit at first, and after installing a few Ring and Nest DBs for friends/family, I was not a fan of the fish eye, but I quickly changed this view being able to see the packages left and even being able to read package labels, this is what set this Doorbell aside from others. Oh and the 3MP at 30 FPS, RTSP Streaming, Instant notifications, ONVIF support, etc. Guess we are lucky we have a covered porch, that sun beaming into your DB is a killer. You may have to install a cover...like bullet cams have.
The sun you see is from the RCA ezviz doorbell that I sent back. The Amcrest AD110 in my other picture doesn’t have that issue. Also both DB’s cover the same area, apart from the RCA ezviz which covers more of the sky. As a result of the added sky coverage that is not needed, a lot of image quality is lost in comparison.
The AMcrest AD110 is also hooked up to my Blue iris, via Onvif as pictured from my TV8998B737-3892-432D-96D1-45C8F3D84A76.jpeg. .

Do anyone know if PIR Alarm will work without a memory card?

I helped a friend install their DB1 but they didn’t get their card in yet. DB1 works fine when viewing live stream or if someone press button.

The PIR alarm is not trigging or sending notifications to their phone. I told them that I think maybe it because it detect no cloud account or memory card.

I have a memory card but no cloud account at this time. Haven't checked the events on the SD card but the ONVIF2MQTT event still happens.

Dashcam, which one is that and is it using van batt power.

Found it on a prev post.

Has anyone gotten their hands on one yet? Is it a Hik rebrand as well? RTSP/ONVIF support?

The specs look promising otherwise. 3MP, 5GHz wifi, and I really like the included up/down/side tilt mounting plates.

RCA : Home Security : HSDB2A

Moderator edit: Please see this post for a great installation write-up

I got one, and I sent it Back.

I got the Amcrest AD110 pic attached, to replace it. The picture quality is so much clearer. Both were in the H

the RCA is deffo not 3k, if it is the quality gets lost in the huge fisheye lens that lets it down.

That would be the Reolink RLC422W wireless dome camera which is bolted in the centre bulkhead of my van, in between passenger and drivers seat. When parked on the drive at home it records to Blue iris, it also records to the micro sd card within the camera which is good for when I’m out driving.
It is powered by a second auxiliary leisure battery that is under the passenger seat, that also powers a mains inverter next to the camera. The battery is charged by a dual charging relay via the alternator.8B92C4AE-9D82-420F-9CC2-231F68B71C82.jpeg3C97DC8D-53F9-4CD6-85D5-D64C41AA871E.jpeg

OK, as an update, I have managed to configure the borrowed extender - Netgear EX6120 - and reset the DB1 to use this. While still using the 12vac1A PSU (until I get uprated...) I am delighted to say that the bell has not gone offline once in the last six hours - hopefully not famous last words! Note that there is no indoor bell in use - I will look at that when everything is stable.....
I got caught out by the extender changing the IP address of the camera.... and hence spent a while wondering why BI could not find it! Once I have told BI the relevant IP address, put in user and password, a find / inspect found the rtsp stream and I can view the feed! Have left the DB1 set to maximum sensitivity for the moment and am using the motion detection on BI.
So a much happier camper than 48 hours ago.....
A further update which may or may not be of interest. All now seems to be running well, I have installed a Haydon – Safety Isolating Transformer – 24V ~2000mA, 48VA as the power source and a Mechanical Chime – Eterna DC1WH - which I am sure is a standard chime just rebranded with UK supplier name. When I set up the DB1 originally using he EZVIZ software, it updated the firmware to EZVIZ v5.2.4 build 200220. I have kept the Netgear EX6120 range extender which now gives -53dBm of 5G signal as reported by the bell.
I had some issues with registering my phone number until I realised that having a Hikconnect and EZVIZ account did not seem to work. Deleted both accounts and just set up a Hikconnect account which seems fine - the only thing I cannot seem to do is stop the "built in" chime on the door bell itself. Would appreciate any ideas as to how to do this - can't see anything in the app or using iVMS-4200. Do I need to delete bell from Hikconnect and set up EZVIZ account just to do this? Have been able to remove the EZVIZ logo via the PC. Have been able to stop the PIR detection "buzz" on the bell.
BI (latest version) added camera without issue and found the stream and happily records 24/7 as well as sending email alert.
On Android 9, I had to ensure that there was no battery optimisation and that the Hikconenct app could operate over other apps (otherwise it just rang in background - double edged sword this one!)

Thanks again to those who have put information on this site - it was great to be able to start with.

The only way to disable the internal bell sound is to use ezviz firmware and disable it with ezviz mobile app. The other fw and apps don't provide this option unfortunately. If you don't need ONVIF functionality, you can stick to EZVIZ firmware, but if you do need it, you'll have to stick with the doorbell built-in ding-dong sound. Ezviz is the only vendor that has done this customization.

If you have time, could you write a small guide, with screenshots maybe, to configure this? We could put it in 101 and it would help users. Thanks. :)

If i use the Hikvision firmware then with the motion sensor page in batch config, does it work independently to the pir sensor or is that the area the pir will cover and alert if need be, is this tied to the pir detection area on the notification settings in app, are they 2 different things or is it the same sensor with different ways to set it.

I ask because i found i can turn the notifications of in the app and let BI notify me as it sends a picture with the alert, but would like to optimise the area.

Cheers

The PIR sensor is a wired device that the camera firmware / OS is integrated to. There is also video motion detection which uses video algorithms to determine motion.

This type is purely firmware or software detection. Historically it's only been OK for outdoor cameras as trees, birds, et all would trigger it. I am guessing that the Hikvision cameras firmware are very similar as I two Hikvision camera boards with very similar firmware to the Hikvision Doorbell camera.

As @alexdelprete has mentioned before the cloud apps are similar to each other and use the same in the cloud service. Each vendor though has tweaked their apps for minor differences in configuration and using same or similar firmware for the doorbell camera.

Read this post. The whole discussion (check also the starting post and posts after that one) should clear your doubts about how it works with any video recording sw or NVR.

Let me also add this: in the logs of the camera (you access them via batch config) you can see continuous motion detection events, and then you see PIR Alert events. The PIR events are the ones that trigger the recording (either on SD card or tagging the stream via RTSP to the NVR).

Here are my logs, today we had parents visiting at 11.21 and they left at 18.02. I see lots of motion detection events logged, but I see PIR Alerts only when they were at the external gate, in the detection area.

This is a very interesting question. If configured with an NVR or sw like my Synology Surveillance Station, the camera continuously sends the video stream and it also sends "PIR Alert" events in the stream, so the NVR/sw can record that information.

So I would say that it should work also without the SD card, since recording in some setups is done by the NVR/sw, so no need for SD card. But this is just an opinion based on how I would have designed it, not sure they decided to do something else. If the SD card would be a prerequirement to trigger motion detection, they should've put an sdcard in the box, even a small one, otherwise you don't have basic functionality. Since they didn't include it, I think it works also without sdcard recording. But I could be wrong. :)

It's just a matter of removing the SD card and see what happens, for someone that is currently receiving alerts obviously. Or from the logs in Batch Config.

Many thanks for reply. As the unit still has the EZVIZ firmware it looks liking removing the bell from Hik-Connect, putting it back on the EZVIZ app and then removing the "chime" and then go back to Hik-Connect. okay, a job for a rainy day!

I guess it would not have this nice slick appearance. Its one of the smallest, best looking doorbells around I think.
Yes it is still the top DB out there in it's price range. Still has the most options available of any DB out there too. And the best video quality, even being a fish eyed camera. I would rank Nest the next in line in video quality, but we tried to zoom in on a Nest and was unable to read a package label like you can on our DB. The eufy is a good contender in video quality but it has almost zero options. Neither of these fit this Forum/Thread group of DIYers...

Not sure if anyone saw this new DB coming but it look like another 1080p DB. What is interesting is the AI claim, guess it is replacing PIR. Not a fan of battery DBs but they have their place.

Also space and cost probably. This camera has an unbeatable price/performance ratio, IMHO. There are overpriced doorbells which force you to subscribe expensive cloud services. But obviously intended audience is not the hobbyst like us. Not everybody likes or knows how to do these things, it requires a little bit of IT and electronic knowledge. Not for "apple users" let's say. :)
Well said. There is a reason this Thread has over 200 pages, I am still amazed at how many options this DB has. Just look at our 101. Been thinking of maybe splitting the 101 up, adding a 201. Maybe 101 for Install and basics and 201 for more advanced options. I reserved page 201 first msg. just in case we do and time permits.

If you try to disable the option via the app, with hikvision fw on the camera, you have an error. it's a feature that requires BOTH EZVIZ fw on the camera and ezviz mobile app.
Once you upgrade to hikvision fw and reset, obviously you have the chime back.

Amazing job. I will review it later. You seem to write manuals as a job, are you an engineer?

@David L take a look at this document. Fantastic guide, for Android 9. :)
