    AXIS M1065 Camera Focus

So, after not touching the camera for a while, I decided to revisit this and popped off the cover of the camera. I proceeded to completely unscrew the focus lock ring and, upon doing so, I was able to easily see and understand the very simple mechanism that’s used for focusing the camera. I...

    AXIS M1065 Camera Focus

Ha. Yes, I didn’t pay much for it—it’s my first foray into AXIS at a price that won’t break the bank. I have given the lock ring quite a few turns counter clockwise—till it can’t turn any more. I feel I’ve used a good amount of force on the focus ring—while holding the lock ring—and I’m afraid...

    AXIS M1065 Camera Focus

So, I finally picked up an AXIS camera. Yay. After having used a different brand for so long, the AXIS’s software quality and firmware updates are a welcome change. In setting up this camera for the first time, and reviewing the documentation on page 8 at...

Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Hikvision IP camera/NVR firmware (CVE-2021-36260)

I appreciate a reply from the authority here—thank you. “Only access” is quite different from “this vulnerability is limited to the web server that is normally exposed on ports 80 and 443,” but I grasp what you highlighted.

Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Hikvision IP camera/NVR firmware (CVE-2021-36260)

The write-up specifically notes this affects the HTTP/HTTPS ports. Anyone know if this has any effect on the camera’s “Server” and/or RTSP ports? Typically ports 8000 and 554, respectively.

    "Operation failed" in iVMS-4500

Not sure if this will help, but I’ve been enjoying iVMS-4500 less and the similar app from Guarding Vision more. As I continued to have more issues with iVMS-4500, I have since moved over to the other app. I recommend you give it a spin, though they both have their quirks.

Hikvision NVR and camera IP address questions

Probably not. If you do this, you will probably break the cameras’ ability to record to the NVR. The best way to handle this is to use VLANs and put the cameras and “LAN 1” on a different VLAN. While my recommendation might be confusing for the uninitiated, outside of this you could simply...

Using Hik-Connect mobile app crashes router

Hate to say it, but it sounds like you need a modem that doesn’t have this problem. Nothing that happens on your home network, phone or whatnot should cause your modem to “fall over.”

    Hikvision vs IPCT vs Nelly’s

I hear you and I know a lot of people feel this way. To my way of thinking, the hardware is just one part of the device and I routinely review the release notes of new firmware to see what might have changed and how it might apply to my situation.

    Hikvision vs IPCT vs Nelly’s

I have a bunch of Hikvision cameras and would like more, but I’m displeased with their regional pricing and am evaluating related options. Has anyone here bought cameras from IPCT or Nelly’s? If so, how do they compare to Hikvision? Pros/cons? How are firmware updates handled and how’s the...

    IPCT Cameras and Related

Hello! I have been an IPCT fan and member for years now and need more cameras. How do the IPCT, Nelly’s and Hikvision cameras compare? Can I grab the latest related firmware from Hikvision to update these cameras?

Suggest wireless cube cam for senior monitor.

I haven’t had any issues with mic-only audio on the Hikvision and hearing what’s going on where the camera is, but two-way audio has been largely useless.

Suggest wireless cube cam for senior monitor.

Have you ever found the speaker/two-way audio in these to be any good? Whenever I’ve tried to do any two-way communication through the app and camera I’m mostly left with very poor audio and even worse feedback loops.

    Hikvision Honeypot Hackathon

Thanks for taking the time to do this and the resultant write-up. While exposing these Chinese-made devices (no xenophobia here, but security is really not a priority to many of these manufacturers) is poor practice, I always take the added measure of session rate limiting, and blocking...

Experience with "extended" PoE? All cameras support it? Looking at using it for 20 plus cameras

Sounds like you should hire a professional. That said, design this right from the start; if you have runs that exceed the limit for PoE, deploy an extra PoE switch or two and connect the switches to one another with one or more high-speed Ethernet runs. Nothing is more frustrating than things...

    How SD card recordings work?

For some of my Hikvision cameras, that only do motion recording to SD, I have to replace the flash card every two years or so. The good thing is they have a five-year warranty, so the replacement is free. IMHO, if you have an NVR, I’d do everything there and not bother with the cards.

Remote viewing H264+ Main Streams in IE11

The real problem is they don’t want to support a modern browser. The fact that there isn’t a modern HTML5-only interface—the plugins are still relied upon—is the bigger problem.

Congrats on your little one. I use the camera for similar reasons, have Percentage of Record set to 99% and haven’t experienced your issue. I also use a 64GB card. Some thoughts: Upgrade to newer firmware if you can I recommend doing motion instead of continuous. Try reformatting the card

Poll: When Will Hik Finally Abandon the Stupid Plugin for HTML 5?

Web Components 3.0.6.38/Firmware 5.5.53 Audio Issue

Not exactly sure when this started, but I just noticed I no longer get audio from Internet Explorer (11.228.17134.0) when viewing Live View via direct HTTP connections to my cameras. The audio works fine when using the iVMS-4500 app. Anyone else experiencing this issue/know of a fix? Cheers.
