Aliexpress sellers not allowed to sell hikvision any more??

Yes, Hikvision offers amazing quality and features in high end line but for us, DIY consumer, budget level cameras are not as exciting. I'd love to see outdoor cameras in sub 200 price range with better sensors for night time viewing. I don't care about other features you mention.

They are a few places, but getting trade prices is not easy for the man is street, ADI global is a Hikvision main partner, but there trade prices change every time i'm at the trade counter, and I have an account lol.

LTS camera are now becoming available here in the UK to but, still not at the same prices as the US.

Swann IP Camera's in the UK are OEM Dahua and not as cheap.

$90 / £60 via aliexpress for a 2332, if you don't get a 2335 then this is a no brainer (at this price, I think you'll get a 2335). That's $120 / £80 after VAT and admin charge that Royal Mail stings you for. Still £40 cheaper than most UK places. At 50% more, there's no way I'd buy this local. Aliexpress all the way.

The cheapest I can find a real 2332 in the UK is £119.99 delivered. Having looked at aliexpress, it seems the 2332 (non-chinese) is $130 / £87 which is roughly £112. In which case I will definitely pay £120 to the UK seller for 1) a quicker delivery time, 2) local support and 3) local guarantee should it be DoA. Paying 10% extra is a good deal IMO but paying 50% or more like most the of sub-distributors are asking is crazy. I've had to send one camera back in the UK and was happy I had paid the extra 10% over aliexpress.

If Hikvision really want to help, then stop people selling 2335s and confusing people who want 2332s. Also make the market more transparent and offer better support. The no1 support for Hikvision for most of us is this forum and most of us are hobbyists. Stop the sub-distributors ripping us off too, I'm happy to pay tax, I'm happy to pay for local delivery and support, but I'm not willing to pay an extra 50% after tax and get rubbish support. I'm not surprised by the rise of Huisun support on here because people are fed-up of Hikvision's games ripping off the west when you sell the chinese cameras for half the price in the east.

Just my thoughts but if something doesn't improve next year, then I'll stop recommending Hikvision and I can see less people helping users out on here with Hikvision related issues. I don't get paid to help (or recommend your products!), neither does alastair, fenderman, whoslooking and everyone else who's active here.

Hikvision have 4 official distributors in the UK, and several sub-distributors. Technical support is provided to anyone who buys from them, but is refused to anyone who buys from unnoficial channels. If you buy online then that is the only route for support

"Technical support". I wouldn't describe it as that. If that is the sole reason to buy from Hikvision UK then I'd rather not. As many people on here will agree, the support is rubbish whereas the support on here is much better.

If I bought an iPhone 2nd hand from someone who bought it not from Apple UK or sub-distributors then I could still go in the Apple store and they will help me with my phone if I had issues (I'm not asking them to replace it under warranty although if it was still in they would). You guys won't help full-stop. That's the difference and I'm not even an advocate of Apple.

Well Stevejn didn't answer, maybe there is no "official" list of sellers for the UK? With no way of telling I just went cheap and ordered a "multi-language" DS-2CD3345-I from eBay which I assume is a Chinese model as its a 3xxx and the seller has changed the fw to multi-language? At $90/£60 + VAT & RM Handling (~£20 as you note) its significantly cheaper than the local options. I can't see needing support and will rely on paypal/eBay if it arrives DOA.

The 2332 != 2335 still confuses me (see lots adverts with "new model 2335 replaces 2332"), I thought the starting 2xxx meant it was international, I know x3xx means Turret EXIR, what does the last character being xxx5 not xxx2 denote - CN home market version?

I saw 2335 were more than the 3345 I ordered from the same seller despite being 3MP not 4MP, is that the regional differences commanding a higher price on the lower model?

All that aside, looking forward to messing around with it, I likely need a couple to cover my drive and back gate but thought I would order 1 and see how I go setting it up.

The 2nd is exactly my point. Stick with the 2332 (2335 hasn't replaced it, that's unscrupulous sellers telling porkies!) as that is the model we know. If you can get it for less than £100 including tax and shipping from Aliexpress and are happy to wait 3 to 4 weeks than do that, otherwise get it for £120 from a local seller who offers decent support. That's my views!

FYG, there are 2x 2332 models, International and Chinese (aka Multilanguage), 2335 is plastic and not vandalproof and has H265 but nearly all NVRs don't support that. 2335 will come in Chinese colour packaging I think (I've only bought one to test so don't know 100%). If you are ok with plastic than 3345 will be fine. You'll find a home for it if not anyway. We are here to help if you need us.

It has the potential for tweaking up the line crossing detection again without overloading the system resources.

Good info! I've been away too long. Looks like we need to get the 2335s rolled out then. The one I test bought was a 3335, so sorry about the plastic misdirection there.

Thanks for info, I ordered a 3345 so 4MP not 3MP, sounds like plastic not metal (is that mount or body "ball"?) but for home use I doubt it matters, when I have a couple cams down the road one will be mounted up high so I can make that the plastic one if needed.

I realise the one I ordered is H265, I have not checked if Synology surveillance station handles that, but the camera can be set to h264 and if it records to NAS share on alarm it could record that way H265 - always try to get the latest technology and H265 should be using less space than h264 at comparable quality.

Not seen the 2345 for sale and didn't consider it, they seem to be around $120-130 so more than the $90 3345.

Sounds like a copy / paste error from one of the professional / industrial range models.

Alistair - we offer a range of products in differing markets, some of which, for legal reasons are available in some markets, but not others, due to local legislation. But aside from this, we receive so many calls from non-professionals who need support after purchasing a product online that it can prevent us from dealing with true technical issues. We wish, at the end of the day, to provide a better level of service in all of our markets, and as a BDM, my focus must be professional. We do offer some of the OEM brands, which can be purchased legitimately over the counter by "hobbyists", but the professional level of product often requires training which we could not provide otherwise. I am assuming you purchased your car from ebay? Or your house? Professional bodies, such as local government and commercial organisations require us to provide a level of service.

Ah come on, you know as well as everyone else that the sole reason for the region codes is to charge some people extra because of the country that they live in.

I have a feeling that 90% of those "calls from non professionals" are because they tried to upgrade firmware, which bricks the camera because of Hikvision's region code policy.....Another 9% of those calls would likely be illuminated with a good, detailed instruction manual that isn't in broken English and clearly describes each feature.....Plus, if you offer affordable in-country solutions to purchase cameras, the gray market would go away. That would in turn put additional funds into the local country's Hikvision headquarters, in which you could use to hire extra phone operators to help out that extra 1% remaining calls for customer service.

I give you points for being clear, and for posting what you have in a forum you presumably knew would express a very different view.

But what about those who bought cameras from China before Hikvision clearly stated it's non support policy? When the firmware available had English language even on Chinese region cameras? Then we update only to find no English and doesn't work with the NVRs we bought (when originally they did). If we don't update we leave ourselves open to security holes and non-operability with other software/devices.

Also you maybe want to tell China HQ that they are breaking the GPL license by not honouring GPL requests (relating to linux in particular but also other GPL software used for free by Hikvision), or including a copy of the license with their products. Hikvision is obliged to do this like every other company who sells products running linux. Not to mention all the other licenses (BSD, Apple, Intel etc) they've also broken the rules on in the past.

Come back to me on your tall steed after the above is all sorted.

Dahua have now started to pickup on this, I've just bought 3, IPC-HFW1320S original English models retail packaging at £53 each on AE, now I would normally have gone with Hik's but their games are getting old and thought I try something different.

When Steve is referring to the professional ranges, what he means is the larger profit range.

I'm a professional installer for 28 years, what I would call the 2 line models is mid range for small commercial and domestic markets.

In 2 years of pushing Hik people opt for other makes, you have to Ask why.
