So i just tried this on one of my brand new C800 cameras and bricked it!
I was to exited and i missed that my new camera was of model I91BL, not sure if that was the issue, or me going straight for the new 5.7.2 FW. The camera had Annke FW: V5.5.102 build 210630:
I uploaded 5.7.2 through the web interface, the camera rebooted and never came back. I gave it a solid 30min+ before power cycling it to make sure i wasn't interrupting any on going upgrade.
I have tried to get it to reload the Annke firmware found
here using
this method but the camera never makes any connection to the
TFTP server (i have checked that the TFTP server works by downloading the file from another client placed on the 192.0.0.0/24 subnet).
I have tried to reset the camera with the reset button, but still no activity on TFTP.
Does anyone know if there's a possibility to connect to the camera using TTL on the pins exposed under the cover by the SD-slot to try and trigger a firmware reload? I guess I'll be ordering a replacement camera soon...
[EDIT]
I did a packet capture on the LAN interface and saw some ARP packages looking for IP 192.168.1.128 from 192.168.1.83. I changed my PCs IP to 192.168.1.128 and the camera connected to the TFTP and tried to download the firmware! I'm holding my breath, maybe it's possible to revive it.
[EDIT2]:
The Hikvision TFTPserv program seems unable to handle big firmware files, it just stopped sending packages to the camera each time when it reached precicely 65xx something packages. The camera sent 5-6 TFTP Acks for it but the server just never sent the next one. I tried to use a regular tftp server instead, tftpd, but when i switched from the Hikvision one the camera never started the file transfer, i found in the packetcaptures that some communication happened between the camera and the Hikvision program on UDP 62 that seemed to be needed for tftp to trigger.
Anyway, i started tftpd agian, and when it was running i also started Hikvisions tftpserv, got a popup "TFTP listening port initialize failed" but this did the trick. The Hikvision program talked to the camera, the camera started tftp transfer of firmware and this time tftpd handled the tftp-part, and sent the whole firmware file. I even got a "System update completed" in the Hikvision software a few minutes after the firmware transfer had completed.
Sadly the camera is still dead!
I have asked the Annke seller for the firmware that was on the camera when it was delivered, its a long shot but worth a try.
[EDIT3]:
I'm a frigging idiot! The problem were never with the camera or the firmware upgrade, i had been playing around with 802.1x on the switch port, and the restart after the upgrade triggered a re-authentication and that is what failed, resulting in the camera never getting back on the network.
