Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Oh, I agree with you. Except the middle age part, I'm well into the Senior group. LOL

No one else has the integrity, honesty and speed Andy has. There really is no viable option, but to wait.
Thanks guys, just calculated, seems currently 145pcs can't cover the orders made on aliexpress today. lol... The warehouse guy make a wrong data, actually only 145pcs. So now will fulfill the orders on paypal, and then the orders on aliexpress, I will send message to the buyer there if i can't ship out them this weekend.
But tomorrow maybe we can get another 200pcs, I think all can be sorted within 1 week.

Andy

Looking forward to my Paypal order :)

I just plan on mounting this camera underneath the eaves of my house, do you need a mount if you are just mounting these flatly underneath an eave?

That's how I have done some of mine, providing you can store the cables in the void above you are fine, otherwise you will need a PFA137 as there isn't enough room in the base of the camera.

Where are you going to put the connectors attached to the cam? I wouldn't leave it exposed to the elements. It really depends on how you plan to wire everything up. At the least, you will have a Cat5/6 cable going to it. If this is running in an enclosed eave, you will be fine if you stuff the connectors up into the eave. If it's exposed, use a junction box between the cam and the eave. You will have space to stuff the connectors inside. Junction box is Dahua PFA137, which Andy sells.

@cryptelli - You beat me.

Thanks for the responses. For a cleaner look I was thinking about mounting them flush and expanding out the holes I have for my existing BNC cameras to stuff the wires in. How big do you think I would need to expand those to 3/4 inch? Really was just making sure for weather purposes I didn't need the mount.

5/8" - 3/4" would be plenty big. Make sure you use self sealing silicone tape aroung the connectors, to make them more water proof.

Did any of you get the PayPal invoice from @EMPIRETECANDY for this turret today?

Some of us requested a PayPal invoice weeks ago, were those quantities reserved for us? Have yet to get a follow up. An update / response would be highly appreciated.

I hope Andy has us PayPal users rest-assured.
I ordered two and paid via PayPal on February 28th. ....still no shipment:(

Morning folks... So after reading alot of threads from everyone here, learning, and my own experience with Hiks (not necessarily bad), I'm helping a friend set up his residential system. Two camera's in the backyard, two cameras, in the front yard, and 2-3 indoor cameras. I'm was planning on the IPC-HDW5231R-Z for the front outdoor cameras as true security cameras.
Question:

1) Out back, he is more concerned about picture quality and covering the pool / backyard area, which will most likely but utilized 90% during the daylight, that said, should I go with a higher MP camera, as if I understood correctly, during the daytime would possibly be the only time the higher MP would be beneficial. If so, Is there a Varifocal that you all would recommend? Looking to stay sub $170.
2) Wanted a recommendation for the indoor cameras, which will be utilized in kids room and possibly inside aimed at front/back doors. I have a hik 2.8 minidome that I love, does Dahua starlight have a minidome that would be recommended over the Hik?

@EMPIRETECANDY what's the current timeframe for shipping of IPC-HDW5231R-Z?

THANKS in advance for any info!!!

So i've finally bitten the bullet. I was doubting between the HDW5231R-Z and the SD52C225U-HNI for my front door. I've talked to @EMPIRETECANDY via AliExpress and this shows again what a great guy he is. For now i've bought the HDW5231R-Z (with bracket PFB203W), and should it provide insufficient for my front porch i will move the HDW5231R-Z to the back of the house as overview camera and buy the SD52C225U-HNI for my front door... Now the wait begins untill he has some in stock :)

A few of us have been looking at the following mini-dome for front door area use ( as it is a dome we will have to minimize UV exposure )
IPC-HDBW4231F-AS
IPC-HDBW4231F-AS | Dahua Technology

Here's the discussion we have been having on that model:
Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

There is another model which Nayr recently reviewed which should also work

Man it takes a while to install these. I used 1/2" electrical pvc and made the bend using a heat gun.

Still needs a bit of aiming as the IR casts onto the wall. I didn't want to put it out further and risk being in the drip zone (gutters have been known to leak).

My wife doesn't like how big the turret appears at the front door; she has no issues on other parts of the house. Personally don't think it looks too bad at the front door, and wouldn't change if it I had my way. :) But the opportunity to get yet another camera for my casino.... err house... sounds good to me.

I've ordered two on February 20th and haven't gotten my shipments yet, but I certainly expect to be on this one. They'll be my final two after ordering my NVR and first in December and two addition mini-domes for the doors.

did someone tested the firmware 20170117 (DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_Eng_P_Stream3_V2.460.0000.5.R.20170117) for this turret?
