Hikvision's new 4MP 2-series

Looks like they have plugged another 'grey market' workaround.
Beware upgrading if you have Hikvision cameras connected as ONVIF to get round language mismatch problems:
NVR can get the language of IPC accessed through ONVIF. Only HIKVISION products support this function

I purchased the DS-2CD2142FWD-l IR Fixed Dome camera. It is not motorized pan and tilt.
 
Hi all! I am looking to get a dome 4MP camera. Can someone give me an advice what to get between these 2 models? 2CD2342 and 2CD2142. I like the look of 2CD2142 but I worry about night time video, I heart 2CD2342 have a good night time video quality. Is it a lot of different? Thanks

As a matter of fact I just sold brand new 2CD2142 mainly because I don't like night time quality on my other one. For small area coverage it does the job (such as garage), but I had it for driveway. Even with two outdoor flood lights (180w equivalent) on my driveway I find night time quality unsatisfactory. If you care about night time check out Huisun mini PTZ. It's as good as it gets currently for about same price. If anyone knows the best night time quality camera for under <200 please let me know I am still looking for the perfect one.

If you absolutely want one or the other then go with the turret, dome design isn't even worth considering unless you just like the looks of it.

Thanks for respond. I heard Torrent 2CD2342 has a good night time without bleed. I will have a look at Huisun mini.
 
HEllo all . after I wtached this and other threads on HIK cameras of various models. it seems some got a bit more centered IR light. Has anyone tried to use an external IR -light, some thing similar to this: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/96-L..._78_77_80,searchweb201644_5,searchweb201560_6

and can anyone give any input of how good it works and post pictures for comparison if you have any?

btw I´m looking at buying two of the DS-2CD2042WD-I since I assume after reading a bit now =), that a wired connection is well preffered to a wireless wifi solution after all.

It works great, VERY bright. I've had it since July 2015 and it works great. I will see about doing some images for you. It lights up over 100 feet away, plus further. USA seller also.

has anybody else experienced some strange clicking noise (repeating every 5 seconds) on DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS?

I got mine today DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS 4mm, I have changed it to record Video&Audio

it doesn't matter if environmental noise filter is ON or OFF, issue (repeating clicking noise) is present regardless
 
@badmannen - did you replied to my audio issue - I can try auto night mode off

please be gentle since I am IP cam newbie :redface-new:

should I remove this little bag or not (moisture collecting little balls), is this only for transport?
or should I leave it there, because I want to use camera outside of the house (from -10C to +30C)

Leave it, it is there to capture moisture in the camera. Specifically important when installed outdoors.

@badmop if you have a chance can you post an image of this? I'm interested in it. I ordered this http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00M3NHCC6/ref=nosim/ipctk-20 but I have decided if it's going to work well for me or not.

Not sure about it. At least you can try, most probably it will fail if the firmware is not intended for that camera when using standard upgrade method.
 
do you know how to (extract) dump current firmware v.5.3.3 to have it, in case I need to restore it

ANYONE who wants to see images of my 15 LED IR $47 ebay buy, PM me, I will share PRIVATELY for 2 days only, comparison pictures from it. 3 Different camera angles with the IR on and another with the IR off.
