Looks like they have plugged another 'grey market' workaround.
Beware upgrading if you have Hikvision cameras connected as ONVIF to get round language mismatch problems:

NVR can get the language of IPC accessed through ONVIF. Only HIKVISION products support this function

As a matter of fact I just sold brand new 2CD2142 mainly because I don't like night time quality on my other one. For small area coverage it does the job (such as garage), but I had it for driveway. Even with two outdoor flood lights (180w equivalent) on my driveway I find night time quality unsatisfactory. If you care about night time check out Huisun mini PTZ. It's as good as it gets currently for about same price. If anyone knows the best night time quality camera for under <200 please let me know I am still looking for the perfect one.

If you absolutely want one or the other then go with the turret, dome design isn't even worth considering unless you just like the looks of it.

btw I´m looking at buying two of the DS-2CD2042WD-I since I assume after reading a bit now =), that a wired connection is well preffered to a wireless wifi solution after all.

has anybody else experienced some strange clicking noise (repeating every 5 seconds) on DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS?

I got mine today DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS 4mm, I have changed it to record Video&Audio

it doesn't matter if environmental noise filter is ON or OFF, issue (repeating clicking noise) is present regardless

Try to turn off auto night mode for a starter. Just to see if it is the ir filter or not

should I remove this little bag or not (moisture collecting little balls), is this only for transport?
or should I leave it there, because I want to use camera outside of the house (from -10C to +30C)

Leave it, it is there to capture moisture in the camera. Specifically important when installed outdoors.

Try using the latest firmware V5.3.6 build 151106 uploaded two days ago - it may fix something. Also try playing with the audio codecs.

Not sure about it. At least you can try, most probably it will fail if the firmware is not intended for that camera when using standard upgrade method.
